Do any of you know if there are any Seattle-area fabric stores that sell pink velvet? Yes, I mean the usual cotton-candy or cupcake pink color I prefer, and not panne velvet either. I suddenly realized I need about a yard of the stuff, but don't know if JoAnn's, Pacific, or Display and Costume sell velvet in that color.

(Don't ask. You'd only end up shaking your head at me in a resigned manner. Just tell me if I can find the fabric easily.)

I'm not asking and yet I am still shaking my head in a resigned manner.

I thought I saw some light colored velvets at either Nancy's or Pacific recently but I can't confirm. Give them a call.

I must ask, for I shall not see the results in person!

And I don't know that I've ever seen pink cut velvet at JoAnns, but if so, there's a coupon good thru this Saturday.

Remember the OldeSkool metal coffin purses that were available in, oh, '93 or '94? (Oh hey, like this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/Metal-Velvet-Gothic-Vampire-Coffin-Casket-Purse_W0QQitemZ9513552066QQcategoryZ88744QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), go eBay!) I have one, and while it was once lined in purple velvet, I changed that long ago to a red velvet lining.

(Do you see where I'm going with this? I bet you do, because you're clever.)

Yep, I want to switch the red for pink velvet, so I can have a black & pink coffin handbag. :)

Might Try Pacific Fabric

They have a big bridal shop there that may very well have it.

Minky is lovely to feel, but doesn't have the same wear as velvet. It has no stretch to it, and is a lot more like micro plush than velvet. :) I love that stuff.

I don't remember pink for certain, but the store I was pimping earlier had a huge selection - you might try giving them a call and seeing if they have any pink.

They have bright light pink (not the icy pink) in velvet, and a light pink in the crushed velour, but it is not as sturdy as the stretch velvet.

I went to Fabrics for Less today, and ended up buying 6 yards of the bright light pink stretch velvet. It turned out to be the color I was looking for. :)

And oh my, that store is dangerous. I could spend a *lot* of money there!

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

I *did* spend a lot of money there, but still about 1/5 the amount I would have spent at regular fabric stores. Was the stretch velvet an icy pink color or just a pink color? When I was there, I only saw one that was a very bright pink (still light), but not pastel-y. I was hoping for more of the icy pink, but maybe they got new colors in!

It is ... about a shade darker than cotton-candy pink. I would call it cupcake pink. Definitely a pastel pink, but not silver -toned icy pink. They had an ENORMOUS bolt of it, so maybe it's a new arrival.

Damn! I would totally have gotten that if they had it when I was there. That sucks. I hope they have it when I manage to get there again! eek! There needs to be more pink and black monsters!!!

Also in the if all else fails category...

Oh, I know. I'm just hoping to find it locally, so I can work on the project this weekend.

I would call and ask. I have been looking for icy pink velvet for a while and didn't even find it around Valentine's day! It may have come out for spring, so I think calling would help. Are you looking for the stretch velvet or the stiff dress velvet? I think the least likely to have it is D&CS (they usually just have jewel tones), but you never know. I *thought* Hancock had it, but that might have just been the crushed velour stuff. Pacific Fabric would be your best bet I think. Try calling the one in Northgate or the giant SODO one.

And please let me know if one does have it!!! I am sick of getting the wrong colors off the internet. :P I have to go fabric shopping for a custom order next week and would love to find that pink velvet is out.

If you can't find it, please email me. I might have stuff that would work for you depending on your project. :)

I was at Pacific fabrics today, and they had a small selection of pink velvet. If they don't have the color your looking for, I'm sure Wendy could special order it for you; She is the assistant manager there.

Hope you find what your looking for. =)
