Outfit idea #3 for the Vampire Ball won't work, le sigh. However I think I've figured out a way to make idea #2 (lots of sparkly "blood spatter" on a black frock coat) work; I'm using a different jacket for the base, and I'm using red sequined lace appliques as a starting point for the blood spatter. I'll trim the appliques as the splatter lessens across to the edges of the jacket. Last night's 3 hour "quick" proof of concept makes me hopeful. I've ordered some dark burgundy sequins to mix in with the bright red so there's more depth.

The rest of the outfit, if this works, will be a white lace blouse, also with beaded blood spatter down the front and on the cuffs, a long ruffled white skirt with some scattered beads of blood, and a black and white wide-brimmed hat decorated with feathers, rhinestones, and very sheer red tulle (that will come down past my chin) that will also be beaded with blood here and there.
Now I just need to figure out if I can create some sort of decorative cover for the type of mask I'll be wearing.
