An important preface to this post: EVERYONE IS FINE.
I texted Dad on Friday; he hadn't replied to my text from the week before, but that wasn't too alarming. He replied to this one, said he was feeling better, and that he'd tell me about the ER visit the next time we spoke. My instant reply was "Is now a good time to call?"
Short form: He knew was mildly anemic (ORLY, DAD? I DIDN'T KNOW THAT.), but the "bad flu" he'd been dealing with that had left him exhausted, dizzy, and occasionally blacking out "only for a few seconds" turned out to be very bad anemia and dehydration. He nearly passed out while having lunch with friends, and after the EMTs talked to him they said, "Yeah, no, you've won a trip to the ER".
Did he call me (or have someone call me) to let me know this? Of course not. "I didn't get let out until 3am, I didn't want to bother you." AAAAAUUUUUGH. A call at any point after that would have been great, but ... I don't know. My family is legendarily bad about keeping each other informed about medical stuff, but I thought both of us were getting better about it. ER, DAD. IF YOU GO TO THE ER, YOU MUST HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT YOUR ONLY CHILD.
He's okay. His meds are being adjusted, he's drinking more water, and he's been talking with his doctor.

On my side: I had my telehealth visit w/ my doctor, and yeah, I am very hypothyroid, but I wasn't the last time I had a full test panel done, which was last year. Oh, and the hormone side of the panel indicates I'm not even in perimenopause yet. WTF? I thought I had entered menopause. Mind you, I can't use tracking my menses as a guide - endometrial ablation back in the early 00s means I haven't had a discernible period in over a decade.
Oh, and I'm super low on iron. Did you know you can get iron supplements as patches? I'm trying that before I add Yet Another Pill to my routine, especially since I'm adding in a thyroid med. I have a note to go for another blood panel in 3 months so we can see where my various levels are at.
