So, while I am a HUGE fan of My Chemical Romance, and am especially fond of Fall Out Boy, I never really got into Panic at the Disco. They seemed cute enough (if terribly, terribly young), but their music never really grabbed me.

I ... I like the new single. I liked the new single BEFORE I saw the video for it. But the video is all steampunk, with a wake and a vengeful ghost! Some of my favorite flavors of eye candy! (Not to mention that in some sections of the video, the lead singer is done up to look like a baby version of Dave Vanian.) It's almost as if they decided to make a video to catch the attention of all the ElderGoths who've been doing neo-Victorian for years and years. And damn them, it's working.

(This (clicky-link!) is a link to the teaser trailer for the video. The full video is on MTV's site, but I'm not linking to them.)

Did I roll my eyes at all the goggles on top hats? Yes, I did. Did I come close to ::facepalming:: at the sight of all the gears affixed to things? Oh yes. But otherwise, the video is all sorts of fun, and the damn song is catchy.

Help me. I don't need to be enamored of another band from the bandom scene.
Dear Self,

Stop watching the Ballad of Mona Lisa Panic at the Disco video over and over. You are supposed to be WORKING ON THE FICTION PROJECT, not watching silly steampunk funeral scenes and vengeful ghosts. Stop it.

Y'know, buying a vintage portable bonnet hairdryer was one of the smartest things I did. Hot air on my head is very soothing.
