- The Adam Lambert concert was AMAZING. He is ridiculously good looking, charismatic, and knows how to work a stage. I, er, may have spent most of the concert gaping in delighted glee. Seriously, he has the most stage presence I have seen in YEARS.

[livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre (who also had great fun at the concert) made the disconcerting observation that the fanbase for Glambert is verrrrrry similar to the fanbase for Twilight. Giddy, impressionable teens and, erm, giddy, impressionable older women. (Just with more sequins and glitter, and far fewer questionable undertones about stalking and abuse of power dynamics in relationships.)

- I am working at home today, which means that in between tech editing, I am doing Goth Upkeep. I am defrosting a bag of henna for step 1 of Mud On Head, I'm going to removed my chipped glitter nail polish and replace it, and I'm doing laundry. Non-stop fun, I tell you.

- Tomorrow night the StuntHusband and I are going dancing! (And possibly to the Night Kitchen after.) People should come join us, it will be fun!

The breaking news from San Diego Comic Con: Disney announced that they're doing a reboot of Haunted Mansion, directed by Guillermo del Toro.

I ... I am optimistic, with a side of vague apprehension.

EDITED TO ADD FROM TWITTER:

RT @screenrant: Del Toro: Haunted Mansion will be live-action, 3D, and "the most haunted mansion on Earth." Will not be a comedy.

NOT A COMEDY. A creepy movie! Oh, thank goodness. I was always boggled by how Disney did so well with the Pirates of the Caribbean movie(s), and yet went straight to horribly bland and boring for the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie.

EDITED TO ADD AGAIN! From Entertainment Weekly http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/07/22/comic-con-guillermo-del-toro-announces-haunted-mansion-remake-for-disney/

"Unlike the 2003 movie version of Haunted Mansion, which starred Eddie Murphy, del Toro said the live-action film will not be a comedy (“We are not returning Eddie Murphy’s call,” del Toro said to applause), but instead will be "very scary — if you take the children, they will scream." Del Toro said he has visited the Haunted Mansion ride many times since he was a kid, describing it as “a place where I go when I need to think and to relax."

He will produce and co-write the film and may direct it as well.
I'm working from home today, while also going through the Mud On Head ritual. (Soon, I rinse out the henna, then apply the super-messy indigo. Whee?)

What I *should* do tonight is write. I have a GCS post that I need to work on, and fiction projects that I need to stop tentatively poking at and just work on. Do I want to do any of this? No. I want to finish the alterations to the white linen tailcoat that came in the mail, and maybe make a skirt.

I also want to have Tasty Booze and a lot of chocolate, but that would thwart this whole "healthy eating" thing I'm trying to get back into. Woe. Woe is the Cupcake Goth. (And to think, I'm not even wearing one of my pairs of CrankyBloomers.)
