- The Adam Lambert concert was AMAZING. He is ridiculously good looking, charismatic, and knows how to work a stage. I, er, may have spent most of the concert gaping in delighted glee. Seriously, he has the most stage presence I have seen in YEARS.

[livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre (who also had great fun at the concert) made the disconcerting observation that the fanbase for Glambert is verrrrrry similar to the fanbase for Twilight. Giddy, impressionable teens and, erm, giddy, impressionable older women. (Just with more sequins and glitter, and far fewer questionable undertones about stalking and abuse of power dynamics in relationships.)

- I am working at home today, which means that in between tech editing, I am doing Goth Upkeep. I am defrosting a bag of henna for step 1 of Mud On Head, I'm going to removed my chipped glitter nail polish and replace it, and I'm doing laundry. Non-stop fun, I tell you.

- Tomorrow night the StuntHusband and I are going dancing! (And possibly to the Night Kitchen after.) People should come join us, it will be fun!

I'm doing Mud On Head this afternoon, myself. It's fun.

Also, hi! I'm new here, been reading your Charm School stuff and a friend got me your book for my bday a few months back. She said she saw it and thought of me instantly. So hello, you have a new stalker. :-)

It really is a Mud On Head sort of day, isn't it?

Welcome! I hope you liked the book!

I *loved* the book. There was much chuckling out loud and having to explain myself to spouse and daughters.

Yay for Mud On Head!

You freeze your henna? I just store mine in the bathroom cabinet. Mine is in powder form though. Is yours already mud consistency?

Sealed bags of henna powder live in a drawer in the bathroom. But when I use henna, I try to mix a batch up a few days in advance of wanting to coat my head. I mix it up in a gallon ziplock with hot water, seal the bag, and toss it in the freezer right away. That (combined with the defrosting) gives me a really good dye release.

I keep mine in the freezer dry, mainly because I buy large amounts and need to keep it fresh for a year or more.

Mixing the powder up in a freezer bag and then thawing it when you need it allows you to have it on hand and dye released when you need it. I warm mine in a water bath and thin it slightly.

New in town

Hi, I found the Gothic Charm School website a few months back while researching a move to Seattle. I read the book and really enjoyed it. My husband and I are eager to start meeting people. So, now that we're here, where do mature goths go to meet and greet?
