- I'm settling into the new job. I've had a few minor freak-outs, but as people (including my new manager) keep reminding me, everyone goes through these sorts of freak-outs when starting a new job. I'll admit that if the Scheduling Fairy appeared and waved her magic wand to give me a fully-formed editing schedule for this deadline, I would be very happy. We hates creating schedules, yes we do. But yes, the job is good, and I'm slowly decorating my (shared) office. So far I've adorned the place with a framed photo of The Husband, stuffed bats and monsters, a black lace scarf hung on the wall, and my Edward Gorey toy Dracula theatre on one corner of my desk. I need to find a good teapot for work.
- Writing. I have a couple of projects, all related to GCS, that I need to pay attention to. Especially since one of them (a small one, thank goodness!) is due next week. I know I can get them done with a minimum of flailing and angst if I just sit myself down and work, but time to do just that is somewhat evasive.
- My weight-loss has stalled again. I've been a little lax on keeping track of what I'm eating, and more than a little lax on doing any sort of exercise. I haven't put any weight back *on*, thank goodness, but I haven't really lost any for a bit. Now that I'm back at a day job, I have to remember to take a walk every afternoon. Exercise and the added fun of confusing a whole new batch of co-workers! It's even more fun because my new building is next door to the Executive Conference Center that's on our campus, which means I not only get to collect startled looks from other employees, but I get to stroll past people from other companies. They look so perplexed when I smile brightly at them ...
- My inner babygoth refuses to relinquish control of the iPod. Except for a brief detour to listen to some Legion Within, my musical selections have been non-stop Placebo, MCR, and HIM. Yes, I know. But they're so fun!
And now, Shallow Fashion Details!
- Black leather pointy-toe flats (that I found for $3 on the last SeaGoth thrift store crawl), decorated with vintage rhinestone shoe clips.
- Black cotton tights.
- Knee-length, ruffled-hem circle skirt made from black & white spiraling skull fabric (made by the glorious
angldst), worn with a fluffy black chiffon petticoat. - Black chiffon ruffled blouse with a high collar (and cameo brooch at the neck), worn under a black princess-seamed jacket with batwing hem (one that was too tight about two months ago, so hurrah!).
- Hair in two low ponytails, with the usual top hat.
- MAC's "Shadowy Lady" eye shadow smudged in the crease and outer corners of my eyes, "Pink Opal" pigment over the rest of the lids, worn with "Macroviolet" FluidLine liner and lots of black mascara. (Yes, I'm trying out new eye makeup.
stroppy_baggage thinks this look works better when I use the "Plum Dressing" color.) The usual dusting of Aromaleigh powder, and Vamp lipstick.
I hope all of you are doing well. I haven't been able to to keep up with LJ as much as I might want to, so if something happens that I MUST know about, send me an email.

Kristin and I have plans to take the Coast Starlight from LA to Seattle later this year, so hopefully we'll get some good visiting time in.
