I am so, SO tempted to see if anyone wants to buy my blue Le Creuset 2 & 3/4 quart soup pot, because then I could justify buying one of the red 2-quart heart-shaped casserole pots. (Yes, two clicky-links there. In case you hadn't noticed.) After some comparison shopping, I've discovered that the heart-shaped baking dish I have is probably not stove-top -safe, due to it being stoneware. Which is fine and dandy, I just wasn't aware that there was a heart-shaped pot. Which I don't really need, since I have the soup pot, and I don't cook enough to need two pots that fulfill the same functions.

But I still want more heart-shaped cookware. And a pink KitchenAid.

Does the KitchenAid come in red? If so, you should get that bec. it would match the pots better!

It would, but the pink one fills me with longing every. damn. time I see it.

>And a pink KitchenAid.

Love that one. I just got a pink Roomba.

How much wear does it have and thus, how much would you ask for it?

I don't actually want the red heart-shaped stuff, but the blue is my kitchen Grail.

You want the blue soup pot.
I'd fight you for it, but i already own the exact same one.

So here is my question, oh Cooking Expert O' Mine: will the heart-shaped baking pot do the exact same things as the blue soup pot? Or am I being dazzled by "Ooh! Red and heart-shaped!"?

From: [identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com

Frankly, i wouldn't consider it a good trade.
The metal heart can be used on the stove top (unlike the earthenware heart), but it's not really a soup pot. 2 quarts seems small for soup, and the heart seems less than idea for even flow/heating of liquidy things. It also can't possibly be as easy to clean, but i have had good results so far with all the different Le Creuset pieces i've been intimate enough with to be responsible for cleaning. I see no reason not to have both, but i think you'd be sad to go from having such a good soup pot to trying to deal with the wrong tool for the job so often.

If it were me, i'd keep the soup pot and think about the heart pot. Think about it while using either the heart dish or the soup pot and consider if the heart pot would be at least as good for whatever it is you're making at the time.

It has barely any wear at all, because I bought it in ... October or November of last year, when Whole Foods had them on sale. How does $45 sound? (I think I paid around $60 for it.)

That's entirely fair. I'll take it. :)

So, pickup arrangements? I can come to S&B now that I don't have to worry about being stuck in the office late *wry smile*, BUT I'm not certain if I could come next week due to this blasted chest cold. Let me know your thoughts on such and we'll sort it all out. (I can also bring along the voodoo imps to give you when we meet up.)

As soon as I get some reassurance from my cooking experts that swapping the soup pot for the heart-shaped dish is a good idea, and not just a crazy whim of mine, we can figure out arrangements. S&B is probably the best idea.

Okay, I just talked to Alexia, and she bluntly informed me that I would be crazy if I got rid of the soup pot. So I guess I'm keeping it, sorry!

(But take a look at Whole Foods, because they run some really good sales on the soup pot, and you wouldn't have to pay shipping from Amazon.

You should replace the blue with a red, even if not-heart shapred, so that things are more coordinated. ;)

No problem. I'll just wait until some mythical time when I actually earn enough money to buy them new.

I can never decide what color KitchenAid I want, though I lean heavily toward baby blue. :)

I have a purple KitchenAid. It's spiffy. Pink would be spiffy, too.

If it was a leCruset dutch oven, I'd be more inclined to be slobbering all over it; I think it's a little too small for what I want it for.

have you seen the limited edition lavender colourway in Le Creuset? It's just gorgeous...

My mom just sent me a heart-shaped bundt pan!

Today I am making a white chocolate raspberry cake. I'm sort of making it up as I go along, and it involves blending some seedless rasberry jam into white icing to make it pink, and adding melted white baking chocolate to the cake mix and icing.

It's a dangerous operation. Wish me luck.
