Ugh

([personal profile] cupcake_goth Dec. 29th, 2005 08:45 pm)
I know several of you have suffered bouts of the varied strains of The Ick that are going around. Do the following symptoms sound like what any of you had?

  • Fatigue

  • Chills, but no fever

  • Mild to severe aches

  • Queasy, unsettled stomach

  • General wooziness and feeling as if your brain has been wrapped in insulation

... 'Cos that is what [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage and I both are going through right now. This is not a happy fun household right now, let me tell you.

Exactly the symtoms my Chris has when google diagnosed "menopause."

Rest. It should pass in a few days. Oh, and he found yogurt helped the queasiness.

I added you, by the by.

I had that last round, this time i have face-tap and sneezing. I sympathize greatly, the bug I had first was utterly wretched.

I drank as much tea as I could handle.

It wasn't the Plague that I had -- but you and Pete still sound sick so I am sorry...

Add sore throat and stuffy nose and that's what I'm just getting over.

Yup.

I hope you don't get the version in which the queasiness progresses to something far worse.

As did my son. Luckily, his only lasted 24 hours or so. Oddly, we grups are OK so far.

I am still dealing with it, nearly four days later. The worst-worst only lasted the first evening, but the rest has gone on and on.

That's exactly what I had right before Christmas. It only lasted 3 days for me.

This is exactly the Ick that I had back in January, that ended up lasting three months.

My condolences. Take it easy, and hopefully it'll go through your system quickly.

Yup.

Almost to the letter. Man I would love to not go into work tomorrow and just sleep in, but it's not to be.

It wasn't me! We had 3 weeks of near-pneumonia, but no Bowelrogs. I'm sorry you're both feeling ill at any time ever, but especially during the "holidays." We both wish you a sudden and miraculous recovery!

I'm grateful for the fact that despite every single solitary person I know being sick in the last couple of months, I have somehow come out healthy and with no evil bugs. Whew! I'm sure glad I haven't had what you folks have been passing around as it sounds like no fun at all. I do hope that you and the hubby get well very soon.

From: [identity profile] oldhalloween.livejournal.com

Yep, that is it and I've had it twice. Lucky me the gift that keeps on giving. Now, in a healthy human it doesn't seem to last as long. Hubby beat it and then got a sinus infection. Its what we do in December. :0 )

Unfortunately...

I stayed home from work today, slept through most of it in hopes to forget the queeziness and aches.

Queasy stomach, that's it. My co-worker has all the rest--I hope I don't get them as well.

I hope you feel better soon!

That's what we had a couple weeks ago.

Baths helped.

Nope, different flavor than mine. Mine is all sore throat, chest cough and fever, with massive indigestion.

Have you tried ginger for the queasiness? Sushi ginger, ginger Altoids, ginger chews, candied ginger, ginger gummi bears, etc. Ginger ale used to be the only liquid I could tolerate during a migraine. Ginger even helped my mom's stomach when she was on that oral anti-diabetic stuff that caused 24-hour nausea.

Found this while tracking down flu-shot locations in Oct. It's handy.

(Nat'l Instit. Health, Is It A Cold or The Flu?) Airborn from T Joe's is good stuff. Wishing you a mild case and happy new year.

I wish I'd had yours - mine was much worse.
