Bela Lugosi is Undead Love
And, so this isn't a completely random and content-free post: I wandered around my neighborhood today, mostly just to go for a walk, but partially to check out our local antique mini-mall (Note To Self: you do not need a dollhouse-sized living room furniture set, even if it is upholstered in white & dark red striped fabric. The same goes for the very adorable sparkly, pale pink vintage Christmas ornaments, or the Victorian-era photos or tintypes. Or, sadly, the Edwardian safety goggles, no matter how steampunk-looking they are. You are on a budget, and buying steampunk goggles is not on that budget at all, no matter how reasonably-priced they were.) and to do a little Christmas shopping. I now have reached my traditional state of holiday gift-purchasing: what the HECK do I get my mother? She is impossible to shop for, and the big thing she wanted is not available anywhere.
Other fun things from today: I stopped in at the local beauty academy to double-check when the discount color touch-up day was. Not only did they cheerfully tell me, but about 4 of the students mock-bickered over who would get me as a client that day (including one who said "No, *I* want to work on the hot goth chick!", which cracked me up).
The PAWS adoption center currently has two black male kittens up for adoption. One of them has a white patch on his chest, just like Dread Beastie did. It is far, far too soon for me to even contemplate getting new kittens; I started tearing up just looking at them. But goodness, they were cute.
Aaaaaand, because I haven't posted them in a bit, Return of Shallow Fashion Details!
- Black leather ankle boots, laced up with pink satin ribbons.
- Pink and red striped cotton tights (oooh, warm!)
- Knee-length vintage black taffeta circle skirt that has black grommets up the center, laced with pink satin ribbons, and worn over a knee-length black chiffon crinoline. (The skirt came off of a vintage dress I bought at a thrift store for ridiculously cheap, because the bodice was thrashed. But the entire dress laced up the front through black-enameled grommets.)
- Pink high-collared, lace-ruffled faux-Victorian blouse, worn with a silver & black locket (by Alchemy Gothic) instead of a brooch.
- Black wool 'riding jacket' (shawl collar, princess-seamed bodice, 3/4 circle peplum) that I bought years ago from J.Peterman.
- Hair in low pigtails under my usual top hat.
- Black velvet scarf and pink & black striped gloves.
- And the usual makeup: Aromaleigh foundation, pale shimmery eyeshadow, black liquid liner, Vamp lipstick
I have realized that I do not have a pale pink scarf. If I don't somehow get one over the holidays, you'd better believe I'll scour the clearance sales for one. I really like all my various velvet scarves (and I have a fair collection), but I really do need a pink one, to go with my pink gloves. Hey, I don't call them Shallow Fashion Details just for the amusement value!
