Lots and lots of wonderful posts to read from you folks about what you're thankful for, which started me Thinking About Things ...
I try to think of something I'm thankful for every day; I am so, SO insanely lucky in my life that I try to make sure I acknowledge that fact (even if just in the privacy of my head) all the time. Because I have a very good life, with a wonderful husband, loving (and not crazy-making, but the good sort of crazy) parents, and my beloved chosen family and friends. I try never to take any of it for granted.
I hope all of you had a good day, and I hope the upcoming year is better to all of us than the past one. Even if you had a fabulous year in 2005, I hope that the remainder of it and 2006 are even better.

I will happily take a better 2006, as this year was trying but even with the parts that were difficult, I am grateful for what was good and what was meaningful.

I, as always, am also thankful for technology. I love that it makes it possible for us to come together spiritually if we can not be together physically. Maybe it means we spend less time together physically than we would otherwise, but we have more places to spend that time because of it as well. My life is brimming over with love, every day, because of the internet.
I am also thankful for the liberties we still have in this country. I fear that they will not last much longer, but I appreciate them while they are still here.
And, as much of a downer as it may be, I am also thankful for those that are no longer with us (some more furry than others). The lot of those lost have made me a better person and given me a richer appreciation and understanding of life. I can not say that I would be as compassionate as I am, had it not been for those I have lost. And every one I have lost has added to my life, my knowledge, my experience, and my humanity while they were still alive.
And I am thankful for air, and that the majority of the people I really care about continue to suck it. ;)
