I've been gone for just about a week. (Short form: L.A. fun! Saw people! Shopped! Disneyland! L.A. traffic is weird, and the weather was much warmer than I was prepared for.)

While I'm terribly fond of every one of you, I am not up to a "skip=300" to catch up on LJ. So, my usual request: what's the news? What important stuff in your lives did I miss? Leave a comment, or send me an email.

Now, to finish unpacking and reassure the cats that I do still love them ...

I leave for the airport to Bangkok in 4 hours!

From: [identity profile] sistawendy.livejournal.com

I seldom have real news, but here's my summary: Halloween pretty good. Nibs MRI OK.

[livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps, however, has somehow attracted the wrath of the gods lately.

Thank you! Aaaaaand I'm very sorry I spaced on the phone call today -- work was *just* as much of a disaster as I expected.

Welcome back!

On our last episode...
...Luke broke his arm, but he's doing ok. Mostly just bored, and Percocet gives him weird dreams. He goes in on Friday to have another x-ray.
...I'm really close to going back to school winter quarter. I'm talking to an academic advisor for the CHID department on Thursday.
...Halloween was quiet for us, but I did manage a Puss In Boots costume for work, and a flapper for Lounge Night. Good times, but we went home early because of the Percocet. Ah well.

Percocet gives him weird dreams? Ohh-kaaay. Most folks, it just knocks out.

Oooh, going back to school? Very cool. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'll synopsize.

Non-sequitor.
Non-sequitor.
Non-sequitor.
I'm grumpy.
Non-sequitor.
Non-sequitor.
Stuff.
Things.
Non-sequitor.
Work was bussy all weekend and yesterday.
Bleh.

I shall be spending the holiday season. . .

. . . in Bellevue, toiling at the mall, assisting patrons who wish to purchase gifts that come in trade-marked small blue boxes : )

From: [identity profile] imflying.livejournal.com

I'm leaving tomorrow for San Francisco, I'll be back next Tuesday and I left you a voicemail saying I wanted to hang out when I got back because I don't go back to work until the 15th!

I don't have a slow brain bleed. Nor a fast one, I'm assuming, but I didn't ask. I figure that's the sort of thing they tell you.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

So next, you go to a brain specialist. Right? Right? Because I worry about you.

hmmm...

My halloween costume turned out pretty good, thanks much to you and your wonderful $0.50 box at the yard sale. Pictures (http://www.livejournal.com/users/butterflake/284985.html#cutid1) Also had WANTED flyers proclaiming Merry Poe the sheep a Baaaaad Motherfucker (couldn't help myself).

Otherwise? same old same old.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Hee! Oh, your costume was great!

What time does your show open on Thursday night?

Trip went trick or treating for the first time. He DID NOT want to go. Rory wrangled him into his spider costume (I didn't get pics. Bad mommy!) and one broken flashlight later we made it to the first house. Once he realized that trick or treating meant that people would give him candy... Well, you can guess the rest.

As for me, as far as work goes it seems no matter what i do to try to get to work on time... The universe laughs and I am late.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

No pics? Curses! But yeah, I'm not surprised that once he realized candy was involved, he was all for it.

Well, I got that mountain of sewing done, for the most part, in time for my anniversary, so that means I can start on that black striped skirt very soon. I will let you know when, but it will probably be within the next couple of weeks! :)

I hope you had a wonderful week!

*hugs*

Just a warning about work.

Today, someone sent a message on an alias that apparently contained every contingent staffer that works where we work. All 5,000+ of them.

300+ emails of fluff, yelling, berating, posting of nonsense pictures (barbecued meat, the Holy Father, a stuffed cthulhu, etc.)and pleading to 'take me off this list' later, the alias got shut down.

Yes. 300+ emails in the space of about five hours.

Just a heads up. You might have been affected by this.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oh great. My mailbox was close to full & locked before I left; I spent part of Wed. clearing out my various folders. Well, tomorrow morning will be interesting.

Man, looking at [livejournal.com profile] meathelmet's post makes me wish I was still CSG over there.

Baby still cute. See most recent post for details. (The two previous ones were job hunt related whatever.)

Paul has a new game he plays. I'll explain it elsewhere.

A co-worker who is also a film maker wants to make a short film based on my dating history. Much snark in my LJ about what it should be called and such.

Had a good Samhain and am now in Pre-festvial ramp up mode.

We need to get together soon.

Blah, blah, blah, insurance: we can still hold a bake sale. It Just Might Work.

Ooh, maybe you can tell me. Did they do the Nightmare Before Christmas treatment to the Haunted Mansion this year? [livejournal.com profile] helix90 and I are going to Disneyland in late November and I can't seem to find any info. And any LA shopping tips would be much appreciated.

Not much new here. Still unemployed. I did post costume pics from Dreamcon last weekend.

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Yes, Disney DID do the 'haunted holiday' makeover to the Haunted Mansion. And oh! it is lovely, and far more elaborate than I thought it would be.

I will poke around a bit for some shopping info for you, but the two best stores I went to were Necromance (wacky Victorian antiques & knick-knacks, bugs in boxes, coffin-shaped things, and so on) and Jet Rag, which is a vintage store that Red Light could only hope to become when it grows up.
