The vet we saw this afternoon did another exam on him. Our regular vet also did an exam (we didn't get to see her when we went in because she was in surgery). Our regular vet thinks what she felt is muscle tissue, not a tumor. The most likely reason the muscle is noticeably thicker on one side than the other is probably because Dread Beastie's left hind leg is starting to get a bit weak (kinda to be expected at his Elder Statesman age of almost 15), so the right side of his pelvic muscles are probably over-compensating a bit. That's the theory, anyway.

Added to the Beast's daily meds routine: a dose of laxative squirted down his throat twice a day. Ahhh, my high-maintenance cat. But he's okay, and felt well enough to sit on my lap and look out the window on the car ride home.

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Cheers, sweetie. He's a brilliant cat, is the Trickster.

I am so glad to hear the little beastie one one is feeling a bit better and has a strong team working system to help him cope with his venerable maturity.

My kitty is about 14 and high maintenance as well.

If one of his legs is weakening he may also be feeling arthritic. Is he already getting some glucosomine to give him some relief?

We just bought some kitty treats that have glucosomine in them. According to the instructions, for the first month he's supposed to get 4 a day. He snarfed down the ones I gave him quite eagerly, so I don't think I'll have any problem getting him to eat them.

When I started giving my 14 year old cat glucosamine and chondrotin it really helped ALOT. She's started acting like a young kitty half her age. It really makes a difference. I'm glad it was nothing serious with your baby and he's doing ok.

I just read about this and I am SO relieved that he is alright.

What is the name of the treats you are giving him? Fionna is getting up there now.

Hip Action cat treats (http://www.seniorpetproducts.com/zucathipacwg.html). He really, really liked them.

I was about to say "Fionna isn't that old!", but then realized she's older than I'm willing to admit. That's it! No one ages anymore. I won't allow it.

I've just come on for a few minutes, and I'm sorry that you were so worried, but glad that he's all right!

If there's a compounding pharmacy near you, you could get the meds flavored for him: there have been brawls over the chicken pot pie-flavored antibiotics!

Good point! PMB, there is (hope not "was") one right on Market not far from the hospital. They did some stuff for us for the first weasels.

Oh, good for Beastie. And what a relief for his humans.

Ah, yes, the twice-daily laxative. Joy.

But good news that he's essentially all right. :-)
