Don't wanna eat my healthy, veggie-filled lunch.

Nooooo.

I want pizza.

Or Indian food.

But, I will eat all my veggies, and, if in an hour I am still hungry, I might go to the cafeteria (which I've never been to, since this is my first day in the new building they've moved all of the contractors to while they knock out the walls in my previous building, but that's a separate rant I'll get to later) and buy a single slice of pizza.

Come out and dance tonight, that'll help too!

tip:

If you break down and get pizza, peel it. IOW, eat the toppings but toos the crust.

Re: tip:

Oh, good point.

I ended up just now going and getting a slice of veggie pizza, because my bowl of roasted veggies tasted ... odd. Not-right. I think something was wonky with the beets.

But I hadn't thought of eating just the toppings, which I may try.

this is a horrid thing for me to say, but I will anyway

Thinking of Indian...

If you haven't been initiated yet, there is an Indian place on 156th, in the same stripmall as the Trader Joes and the First Tech CU. The food is to die for and they have a buffet lunch during the week.

Cyn used to go there occasionally when she worked at Red West. (She'd also come back and lay on the floor for most of the afternoon because the food is so damn good).

Oh, I know all about Myuri's. :-)

However, since I don't drive, I can't go there on a whim. Which is probably a good thing.

Hmm, is Cyn aka Cyndie-Lea? I haven't seen her in a while, but she did work for MS. It still amazes me sometimes how the circles of people I know keep colliding.

The very same. She left about 6 months ago and is in school to become a teacher.

Should I tell her hello or just amazed at the its-a-small-world-after-all nature of it? (Sorry if I induced a flashback, stroopybaggage).

Choose wisely....

If you need a reason to remind you why pizza is bad take a look at WebMD (http://www.webmd.com/webmddiet/news_articles/help_fast_food_chain_page2.html) and scroll down to Pizza Hut. Even the healthiest slices have a whopping amount of calories. The slices most people choose an entire days worth of fat and most are near a 1000 calories. Have to look at the list to remind myself that when with the nephews just say NO to pizza. :0 )

Re: Choose wisely....

Could you maybe provide a link to that info? I just searched WebMD for 15 minutes and came up with nothing.

Re: Choose wisely....

It was a hyper link to WebMD and all you need to do is scroll down. :0 ) It may be since the text came up as all one color for you. To be safe this the actual URL is:

Ah, if I hold my mouse over it I can see the hyperlink. Thanks.

Re: Choose wisely....

Pizza Hut is not good pizza. Bleah. Of course their crap has lots of calories -- their standard pizza has a film of oil put in the pan before it's baked. Yuck.

Made properly, pizza is actually a pretty healthy / complete meal. If you want to go even further, sub some soy cheese instead of dairy. Nummy.

I personally prefer the super-thick-crust (so closer to foccacia bread), but if you're a believer in Atkins, I suppose any pizza is evil.

Re: Choose wisely....

Type 1 Diabetic... so I have to count carbs and fat. :0 ) Fat breaks down slowly and raises blood sugar for hours after a high fat/high carb meal. 2 pieces of pizza and I end up adjusting insulin intake for the next 8 hours!

A little tip:

Make sure you have protein at breakfast, and lunch is best if it's a little carb (whole-grain, please), a little protein, and a lot of veggies. The organization of the protein will help keep your blood sugar steady; the carbs will give you enough of a serotonin bump that you don't feel deprived and the veggies will fill you up.

On my fourth week, I've finally found the rhythm, and this basic idea is working *really* well for me.

Ditto on the protein. I added a little pre-package Tillamook Cheddar to my usual breakfast of an apple and a granola bar about 2 months ago and suddenly I wasn't starving hours before lunch.

I went clothes shopping and came home filled with virtuous resolutions about cutting sugar from my diet.

Came home from work today to discover my daughters had baked cookies. *groan*

hehe...I blew my diet today, after eating nothing but veggies and various meats for almost a week all my self control went right out the window when my friend conveniently placed in my lap a bowl of chocolate soy ice cream whilst watching old movies. I ask you...how could I resist?
