Because when you get a whim to do something like make a charm bracelet (as mentioned in my previous post), once you finish going through all your jewelry boxes, craft supply boxes, and random stashes of sparkly things, the only things you don't have are some split rings, some head pins, and a silver link bracelet.
Even better is when you find out that the fabric store 2 blocks from your house has split rings and head pins, and the Fred Meyer across the street is having a 50% -off sale on sterling silver jewelry, which means a silver link bracelet is $10.
See? Packrat + magpie = useful. Sometimes.

I get a whim to make something shiny and pretty for someone, I look around, and I have everything I need *here* to make something fantastic and amazing and surprising. :)
