Saturday was another day of unpacking the front room, plus moving books from one bookcase to a different bookcase, because I finally remembered that NO, the vampire books went in that larger bookcase. However, at this point ALL the books for downstairs are unpacked, yay! I have 42 editions of Dracula, yay! I HAVE ROOM LEFT ON THE VAMPIRE BOOKCASE, TIME TO BUY MORE, YAY!

Sunday neither of us felt like doing anything, so we decided it was movie time. The movie I wanted to watch, Lake Mungo, wasn't available for free streaming on any services we use, and the Stroppy One has moral objections to renting streaming media. I get it. So we decided to watch Ouija: Origin of Evil, which I had seen before but long enough ago that I had forgotten most of it. Why that? Because it was directed by Mike Flannigan, director of The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass. It was very good; atmospheric and creepy. Even creepier for the Stroppy One - he is unsettled by Ouija boards in general, and while he enjoyed the movie, he also admitted to being slightly adrenalized after it.

I can tell going to the personal trainer is having an effect: I have more stamina, I can lift heavier things, and I think my belly is shrinking. Don't get me wrong, I still hate having to do this, but I know it's necessary.

What does one do with forty-two editions of Dracula? Are they like... retellings? Or with illustrations?

This post made me wonder how many editions of Dracula there are. Let's say English editions, just to narrow it down. First published in 1897... I just looked up first editions and they're selling for $10-$45K! What is the oldest one you have?

I'm also curious, on the subject of vampires, what your favorite vampire novel is. Interview or another Anne Rice? Or? I know there are many vampire stories--just curious what pops to mind for you as one you love most, or more than most?

I am also really glad you're getting results from PT. PT is a grind, but I have to grudgingly admit that it works.

I was looking at my (paperback) copy of the Essential Dracula, and realized that its ratty cover is a problem I could fix. (It was shipped as "good" condition. it was not, however, in good condition, and tapped on one too many times, but the text block is fine.) I could just reglue the spine, maybe put a little reinforcement, give it a nice case binding... Problem is the Hoopy Frood tossed my bookboard, and I need new blades for my knife. Easy problems to solve with one-stop Hollander's shopping! (It's only fair that I get to use his self-healing cutting mat.)

I had a roommate once who had 40 copies of Mein Kampf. He wasn't a Nazi or anything, he just thought the book was interesting from a propoganda angle. I think I'd rather have 45 copies of Dracula.
Glad the PT is going well and that you're seeing results. I kept saying I was going to start walking at night again, but I haven't followed through. Yet.
