The trip to Fabrics for Less was a success! The first fabric to be decided on was an absolute dead ringer for Silk Baron's Penny Candy, but in polyester. Am I thrilled about polyester? Well, no, but it was 1/3 the price per yard.

There ended up being a second batch of fabric purchased, because the Stroppy One, with the vehement agreement of the Madwoman in the Attic, pointed out that I should also select a black fabric option, because if the fuchsia batwing hem jacket had even the slightest chance of an "Oh wow, I am unpleased with how I look in this" reaction, it was better to have a 2nd option right there. We found a good mid-weight poly-cotton blend of black with a truly astonishing amount of silver glitter threads, and added it to the stack.

The Madwoman spent today creating the black & glitter version. I think all she has left to do is the batwing curved hem on the sleeves and body of the jacket and buttonholes. Because she is insane and can turn these things out in a freakishly short time. I fully expect that by Saturday afternoon I will have both jackets in my clutches, and then I can do the final choices of hat or headpiece, underskirt, jewelry, etc.

HUZZAH for the Madwoman, and also HUZZAH for a goddamn retail fabric store with a decent selection!

It is so cool that you have multiple people around you who understand the reasons behind your preferences, so they can be effective when it comes to helping you get what you want. Few people understand under which circumstances I will tolerate ruffles or lace, or what colors I'm comfortable in, or how to select styles that suit my long torso. The people who really get me that way are such wonderful enablers! :)

Splendid! [Rubs hands together.]

I'm in awe of the Madwoman. Years ago I could competently put something together after at least one major screwup, but it always took at least twice as long as the generous time I allowed myself. And I know I'm not alone.
