Having seen the full trailer for the AMC Interview with the Vampire show:
- Awww, precious Murderbaby Claudia!
- Yep, excellent casting for Louis.
- Oh wow, they ARE going for some of “yes, they’re lovers” text with Louis and Lestat. (They’re my Murder Husbands v1 OTP.)
- Stiiiiiiiilll not convinced about the casting for Lestat. Yes, I have various issues with the casting of Lestat in every adaptation, but this actor looks too … lantern-jawed action hero. Yeah, Lestat killed a pack of wolves at the start of The Vampire Lestat, but he’s also canonically stunningly handsome. This guy looks like he came from a central casting factory.

A related digression: when the movie was made, Lo these many years ago, I -hated- that Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat. This is in part because I do not like his acting/did not like his acting in anything I had seen**. The movie comes out and Cruise was, IMO -perfect- for the part. He turned out to be my favorite part of the movie, whenever he was on screen.
**That said, I still dislike his acting in most roles. Loved him as Lestat. -Loved- him in 'Collateral' & 'Edge of Tomorrow' [not just for the fact that he gets killed again and again and again ^_^]. 'The Mummy' was also entertaining.

I would assume if this was a success they'd want to adapt/bring in other aspects of the books, so changing the time period from the get go seems like it could complicate things later? IDK.
