Last night I found a fic that I didn't know I needed, but speaks to the depths of my soul:
"The Mongoose and the Mouse".
Read this description. Behold the glory.
With Mother's Day impending, and Father's Day on the way, Will Graham is feeling particularly irascible. He has parent issues. He knows he does. As a therapeutic exercise, Hannibal proposes something novel: a vacation together, to recapture the childhood he never got to have. His caveats: Will must choose someplace he's never been, someplace he always wanted to go as a child.
The idea is absurd. Terrible. Ridiculous.
Will can only think of one place.
Hannibal will never agree. There's no way he will agree to go to a place where turkey legs are a staple, and oversized cartoon characters offer hugs on every corner.
Will calls his bluff.
Hannibal calls it right back.
~Will and Hannibal go to Disney World for sound psychological reasons~
The best part of this (complete, being posted in chapters) crack-treated-seriously fic is that the writing is fantastic. This is not out-of-character fluffy crack, it works.
I can't wait for the next chapter.

ETA I read "God of Appetite" on your recommendation and it is still one of my favorite fanfics ever. So thanks for that, too!
