Things, for assorted reasons large and small, have been stressful. This morning I woke up with bad brain chemistry, to the point of needing to take a small amount of anti-anxiety meds before having my damn coffee.

While slathering my toast with peanut butter I mournfully said, "I wish I could go wade into some water somewhere". The Stroppy One replied, "So I need to take you to Golden Gardens".

"Yes. I would like to do that in the near future."

"I meant today. In about two hours."

So for a little while, wearing a mask and observing social distancing, I was able to stand up to my knees in the Puget Sound. Wading into water is the fastest way for me to ground myself. I hate the sun, but going to a beach on an overcast day and standing in water is something I pretty much constantly want to do.

Does a tub work for that?

Or maybe a little countryside creek with less people, wearing a pair of junky IDGAF sneakers of course?

(Just trying to think of other possible options.)

ironically, Carkeek park has just such a creek. (for those who do not know, Golden Gardens park is sort of the park next door to Carkeek) the creek there is shallow enough to walk across easily. Plus its in the woodsy part of the park so there aren't usually many people there at the best of times.

I have been trying to think of where else nearby you could go. Green lake is going to be a madhouse, of course, and I cant think of any water areas around woodland park. it looks like matthews beach is closed for covid.

Seattle.gov has this tool - https://www.seattle.gov/parks/find/parks/ and it will tell you which parks have what and if they are open. <3

Ugh, yeah, no parking is a deal breaker because I am more steady on my feet than you are right now and *I* am not steady enough for those trails.

One of the things I am most looking forward to with our impending relocation is returning to a reasonable proximity to ocean. As much as I miss the mountains (which I think I'll also have access to then), my missing the ocean is like an ache in my bones.

Cheers to the Stroppy One for knowing exactly what to do, and to do it as soon as possible!

I feel the same way about getting into water--preferably natural water, the ocean, a lake, a stream, although a tub will work too. Just walking in, it doesn't have to be submersion, is immediate connection to source. I'm so glad you could go when you needed it, and it wasn't horribly hot this weekend either!

Picturing you in a mask with bloomers up to your knees in Puget Sound makes me happy.
