 I finally saw Midsommar tonight, and it's easily the best movie I've seen all year. It's a lush, hallucinatory folk horror that is even more powerful for taking place in sunny, bucolic surroundings.

Or, to give a better stylistic summary: Imagine that after Hannibal S3, Bryan Fuller decided to make an homage to The Wicker Man. 

Just ... DAMN. It was a great movie. I want to see it again.

Comparisons to The Wicker Man actually make me want to avoid this movie. :)

The cinematic and narrative lineage from The Wicker Man are very apparent for Midsommar, so if The Wicker Man isn't your thing, yeah, avoid this movie. :)

Oh thank you for reminding me about this! I had plans to see it before I left for vacation and then never did. I'm going to find a time to see it this week!

Just be warned, there is gore and violence, and because this is an Ari Aster film, it isn't glossed over.
