I am a semi-nocturnal creature. This is not an I'm soooooo goth! thing, I have Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder, which means my body clock is set to later than other people's. In a perfect world, I'd go to be around 2am, read for 30-40 minutes, conk out, and wake up sometime after 11:30am. I'm most productive and clear-headed in the late afternoon through the night. (Productive as long as I don't fall into reading fanfic or gothic romances that is.)

So, being semi-nocturnal, I am really REALLY annoyed that I need to use a light box in the winter. It seems unfair.

Bad: You need to use a light box in the winter.

Good: You'll never get buzzed by a crazed bicyclist at dawn.

I used to say that I'm five hours behind everyone. Now that I'm not working (sigh, another long sad post), I have reverted to my natural rhythms, which include going to bed at 3am and waking up between 930-10am. My brain refuses to naturally engage before 10am. God knows I've tried.

I have fallen down a fanfic hole recently. Again. Still. I'm trying to get other things done, but my brain is on Hannibal and Will. Again. heh.

I feel you. I won't tell you my current schedule, because you'd either cry, or scream (or both.)

I don't suppose anyone has invented a soft-light on a timer to gradually turn of at a specific time? I know there are alarm clocks that start soft and chime gently, increasing volume over the course of 10-15 minutes. A light version of that might be helpful.

They do (dawn/dusk timers is one name for them), I have one, it is somewhat helpful to me, but sounds like it wouldn't be to Jilli. But if you are interested for others, I could probably dig up the Amazon link for the one I have.

I feel you on all of this. My wife does too. We both have DPSD. Augh.

I resent the light box as well. Its time to dig it out We are staying up until 2 right now and it will really suck when he has to go back to work.

Ugh, I have often wondered if I have some sort of circadian rhythm disorder. I've just never bothered to actually find out, because 1) I hate going to the doctor when it's not absolutely necessary, and 2) my life isn't going to change if I do have one, so meh.

I'm a 4am - 1pm sort of person myself. Apparently I used to claim I wanted to die instead of going to bed/getting up early as a kid.
... phase? Nope.
