By way of someone else's DW post (not tagging because I don't know if they want to be linked to): sovay's review of Jennifer's Body. The review explains just about everything I love about that movie.

Jennifer's Body is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. It's actually even one of my comfort movies, when I need the comfort of remembering RAGE IS OKAY.

The other person's DW post also talked a lot about "Violet" by Hole*, and why it's a great song. Which it is! I consider it to be one of the best ever angry anthems, and have it on a couple of my heavy-rotation playlists. And in reading that, I realized that in addition to a whole bunch of vids for Hannibal, I really, REALLY want a vid to "Violet" for Penny Dreadful about all of the female characters.

* I have strong opinions about Courtney Love. The tl;dr version is that she is responsible for some amazing, powerful music, she really is a terrible person, and I never want to be stuck in a room with her again. [/Seattle 90s flashbacks**]

** For the record, I feel/felt exactly the same about Layne Staley, for almost exactly the same reasons. Or Geoff Tate. Orrrrr a lot of musicians from the various Seattle music scenes of that era.

I dont think I have seen Jennifer's Body. I read the blurb for it and it just upsets me.

But, on the subject of cathartic rage, May is a very good film. Adi introduced it to me several years ago, namely because the main character makes good use of scissors. You might really like it.

Just because they made/make great music doesn’t mean they’re decent human beings. I’ve known way too many people whose evident single purpose in life was to create music, and who had no use whatsoever apart from that. I have stories....

I've read part of the essay she wrote about the music business back in the '90s. Terrible or not, she isn't dumb.
