HELLO I AM ON NEWS BLACKOUT TODAY. Because thinking about it has brought up so many horrifying things that I accepted as normal from my past that I am preemptively noping out. However, I support everyone who has been brave enough to speak up and out. I also support folks who can't bring themselves to talk about it.

With that depressing comment out of the way, let me witter at you about clothes! A month or so ago, I won an auction for a vintage skirt & polonaise made by my beloved Kambriel! Someone was clearing out things they didn't wear, and I lucked out. It's dark burgundy taffeta with black lace, and even though the listed measurements were slightly too small, I figured I could either wear it with a corset, or pay Kambriel to add an extra panel somewhere.

It arrived today. It fits. It fits without a corset. It will fit BEAUTIFULLY with a corset. That's my outfit for Vampire Ball 2019 sorted, then! (I'll obviously need to figure out accessories and whatnot, but that's easy.)

ALSO - these really are vintage. The labels are for Kambriel's original business name, Atrocities. Let me wave my hands in eldergoth glee!

oh how awesome!!!

(and yeah... I am going to listen to the rachel Maddow podcast later tonight, probably, but that is my ONLY brush with real news content. that's a dark place we do not need to go to. I am glad this is no longer how the world works.)

...I listened [radio .. couldn't escape it] and felt extreme sympathy for her. She came across as totally believable. Him? His entire personality & responses [on radio, mind] came across as entitled and angry.

That said - I love the description of the taffeta! Is there any chance you can post a pic? [...or 2?]

It's often a struggle to convince the world I'm a woman. I live with loneliness and near-panic from missing out on twenty-five years of my adult live and the impossibility of recapturing them. And I still wouldn't necessarily trade my fractured past for a cisgender woman's.

Wow ~ I'm wondering if there's a chance that could be a bustle I wore for a fashion show ~ ironically at the Vampire Ball in Salem, MA back in the mid/late 90s? I wouldn't know without seeing it, but I did wear an outflit like that back then... But geez with the measurements if it was *that* one since my waist wouldn't have been more than 26" back then! Regardless of which one it is, I'm glad it found it's way to you and it will be lovely to see again sometime :)
