A frivolous thing that makes me ridiculously happy:
Thanks to online tutorials, I have learned how to apply silk as a structural layer in a gel manicure. This means that I can enhance my naturally weak, thin nails (as long as I'm good about doing the gel manicures) into ones that permit (tiny) talons! Pointy pointy nails!
(While I probably could go with a longer length of talons, I know I'd feel uncomfortable with them while doing assorted craft projects.)

Biotin supplements have helped me a great deal with the weakness. It took several months to build up, but my nails are in better condition. They still split if I don't pay attention to the corners, but far less than they used to. (And my hair started growing again, which was the original reason I started the supplements.)
