Things! In list form!

- The situation that was causing me unreal levels of stress has been resolved with the best possible outcome. However, I'm still taking this as a sign that I need to get my beruffled self going on Certain Plans. Yes.

- Which means I've been making lots of notes around those Certain Plans, and starting to write more GCS posts. It's something I've needed to do anyway, but it helps that I'm coming out of the annual winter torpor.

- The unreal stress has taken its toll: heavy migraines for two days, and the realization that I need to schedule an appointment for my Botox shots soon. As in call on Monday soon.

- I have finally accepted that every eyeshadow purchase I ever make is an ever-tightening spiral towards finding the perfect versions of specific colors: dark burgundy (like a good Merlot), a pale dusty rose, and a very glittery pale pink. And let's just say I have many subtle variations on those colors. But hey, MAC just added additional colors to the LiquidLast eyeliner range (the most perfect and long wearing liquid liner ever), one of which is ... a dark Merlot. I am a target market.

- We have our hotel for Bats Day! Which is the 20th anniversary, and the last one. It was always organized by a small fan organization that ... well, y'know how small fan-organized cons run in the first few years? That's been a permanent stage for them. But Disneyland! With other goths! Maybe the park staff will finally let me move into the Haunted Mansion.

Good to know you still have some breathing room and time to plan.

Entered both contests to spend the night at the Haunted Mansion in 2008 and 2014. Live streaming video of both events. The 2014 footage is easier to see.

Sigh.

Do you have thoughts about eyeshadow brands? Herself has a dance and I'd rather not break the bank...but everything I use is pretty spendy because I'm allergic to everything. I don't think she's going to wear it except at parties so I'm in more of a $5 mood than a $15 mood.

Well, we went to the Ulta Beauty because she liked the idea of going somewhere with LOTS OF THINGS and I thought that was fine bc Giant Wall of NYX and I liked the idea of going somewhere next door to Target so that after we'd admired the expensive things we could go look at cheaper makeup...and they had a tower in the back of clearance Christmas makeup samplers, marked down to $10 from $40 for a big box of stuff, which we concluded was perfect for someone who wants to try things and have makeup to wear to dances, but isn't ready for every day just yet.

It seemed to me like a good value for the big eyeshadow and highlighter/blush palettes alone.

Meanwhile I was nearly seduced by the Urban Decay eyeliners (since about all I wear is lipstick and eyeliner) but I've decided that can wait until I have some little celebration (I swatched them on the back of my hand and I've washed my hands twice since and daaaaang I can see why they get $20 apiece for those).

It came with little foam dealies, and I have a couple of brushes I'm not using that she can have -- I can't really use anything that's a powder without having an itchy skin reaction, so she can have my powder-related stuff (and since we share a bathroom it's not like it's gone very far if I do decide I want it....)

Ah ~ I hadn't heard about Bats Day being the final one yet :/ I'm glad Noah will have more time to spend with his daughter though. (Thankfuily the small business cost-deduction issues mentioned in an update on the BD site for next year aren't so dire as first reported so maybe that could leave the door open for future one-off events if he wants.) I noticed the host hotel has king suites with 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms... though I'm of course rooting for you to finally get a private apartment in the Haunted Mansion :)

Have fun!

Since you know more about Bats Day than I do...now that the Saturday events are cancelled :-( do you think there are likely to be smaller, more informal meetup-type things going on? Does it still make sense to arrive Friday, or would we find no one there until Saturday afternoon? I'm assuming people will still show up and make their own fun, but?

I hadn't even thought about spending an extra day in the park. S. has never been, and he says oh, hey! So that Shiva's like a very good plan.
