Dear Self,

Just accept the fact that you're not going to find a long black lace skirt that's full enough for your liking, and that you will end up buying fabric and making a long circle skirt. The sooner you come to terms with this, the sooner you can start browsing for lace fabric, instead of fruitlessly searching for ready-made skirts.

Yes, sewing from scratch. Ugh. But nothing out there is as flowy as you want.

Circle skirts are easy. Anything larger than 1 full circle, also easy. Just cut half circles and join till you get what you want. I usually cheat for the waist band and cut one off some old leggings or jammies and sew the skirt onto that since my waist bands never show, and soft old jammie waist bands are comfy and not too bulky.

Haha, YES to this waistband idea on a handmade skirt. I admit to doing this with elastic waistbands from yoga pants. :D
