Stuff, stuff, stuff, but no ring of power, drat it all.
- black glasses case, containing my batwing-shaped sunglasses
- small black organizer (with b&w striped lining!)
- black with silver filigree spiderweb overlay fountain pen, filled with "Opera Rouge" ink
- little black leather folding wallet/coin purse
- cell phone
- small black folding fan
- small red pleather makeup bag (with a black bat on the front), containing translucent white Stila pressed powder, "Vamp" lipstick by Chanel, "Orchid Smoke" lipstick by Club Monaco, "Currant" lipliner by MAC, lip balm, and a teeny-tiny tube of eye cream
- white, lace-edged handkerchief
- small flat metal case holding blotting papers
- small flat b&w striped flashlight (when I say small, I mean 3"x5", and about 1/4" thick)
- tiny green velvet heart (good luck charm)
- eye drops
- house keys, spare car key for
stroppy_baggage - silver pill box
- two small metal tins of mints: one containing organic peppermints, one containing mints made with cocoa powder
And yes, I consider all of those "essential". There's a REASON I carry box purses. Other than being able to break the wrists of potential muggers, that is.

I keep carrying handkerchiefs (as you know, a lady does) and then *losing* them. I bet Elizabeth Bennet didn't have that problem.

I am curious about the blotting paper. Do you find it neccesary for your pen? I mean, I grew up using fountain pens at high school, and blotting paper, but I've never had recourse to it in adulthood because I find that ink usually dries very swiftly. Possibly this is not true of your gloriously gothic sounding ink, though.

(I generally carry them, too.)

...I think I missed the memo on this one.
