Burgundy / oxblood/ dark merlot crushed velvet dresses. The GOOD crushed velvet, the heavy, dense, 4-way stretch stuff. You know, the standard crushed velvet dress with princess seams and a full skirt (usually from the brand Jumping Joy) that we all had.

Help me find one of these dresses. I found one today in a consignment store, in a size too small. I had been idly nostalgic about such dresses for a while, and after holding one in my hands again today, I am consumed with coveting. HELP ME FIND ONE. I'd need an XL/size 14/16.

Anyone? Anyone have one just kicking around their closet? ([livejournal.com profile] jola, I'm especially looking at you. I know your closets rival mine in terms of time-capsule settings.)

Whoof -- DO WANT.

Talk to [livejournal.com profile] angldst if you can't find one -- she's really good with velvet, and she'll make it to your measurements!

-- A (now lusting after velvet in the middle of a Texas summer, which is impressive . . . OTOH, I'm wearing my "Nice Boots" shirt at this very moment!) <3

I haven't ordered from these folks yet, and their website is a bit Internet circa 1999, but this (http://www.sanctuarie.com/blshslprcutd.html) might fit the bill - looks like sizes start at XL, and are customizable in color, length, neckline, and fabric.

hmmmm, a lot of my favorite dresses from long ago are being custom made by : https://www.etsy.com/shop/rosemortem?section_id=7255818&page=2 princess seams to your heart's content and if you ask she can take custom fabric options and do a certain style w/ a different sleeve etc. A wee bit pricier than our old Funhouse stuff but custom made to your measurements.

once again i find myself wishing we could somehow get you over to GAF-con just because i want to spend time with you ::sigh::

This sounds something like the Big Red Dress that I got from you, n'est ce pas? I don't know where to find what you're looking for, but your covetousness is contagious.

Easy peasy if you ever want me to make you one. I have a source for that velvet too.
