What's this meeting request? Oh the "discuss your severance options" meeting.
*twitch*
I know that I am going to be taking advantage of that 6-week paid job search option. And that having those 6 weeks will work out, and I will find something. It's just that seeing a meeting with the phrase "severance options" is a wee bit nerve-wracking.
On the up side - I have an "informational" interview this afternoon with someone about User Education jobs. And after poking around a bit with a couple internal web tools, I discovered that the person I'm meeting with does INDEED have open headcount. So yay, because I originally thought that this informational would just be a fact-finding thingummy about User Education jobs in general, not about a real live job possibility.
I also applied for another games division job. "Game Designer". Hee! No, I haven't designed any games myself, but I've done a whole bunch of playtesting, editing, and general feedback-mongering for games. Not to mention the job requirements were "strong communication skills (verbal and written), imagination, and 2 years game design experience OR 4 years game industry experience".
I still think my best bet is what #1 Minion is trying to pull off. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't exhaust every option or far-fetched notion I run across.
