I'm debating wearing some gothic lolita to this year's Otakon, but I've never worn it before and I'm limited in funds. Are there any inexpensive quality lolita skirts/dresses stores online that you know of?
Retroscope Fashions has good basics for skirts and blouses at reasonable prices. They're where I buy my basic black ruffle skirts. (If you do buy things from them, tell them that I sent you!)
The ankh itself is one I've had for ... probably over 20 years. I recently found the pink crystal rosary at a vintage shop, carefully removed the crucifix (and set it aside to give to a Catholic friend), and attached the ankh.
Thank you :) I seem to have accidentally started a collection of ankhs, and the best ones are like yours, with a bit of history behind them. So far: a pair of dangly rock-crystal and silver ankh earrings from my auntie's punk teenage years; a silver ankh pendant bought in Edinburgh just because; a small golden ankh pendant given to me by my grandmother before she passed away; and a black ankh tattoo in memory of her. Thanks for the lovely photos - I mostly work in hi-vis and safety boots, but it's nice to dream of a bit of glamour at work :D
Really? Even East Coast tech companies enforce dress codes? Because there are workplaces out here in Seattle that I wouldn't be able to dress like this, and I know it. But the tech industry doesn't care at all.
