I am having a bad day. For a variety of reasons.

Today's administering of sub-q fluids to Tzepesh was not as smooth or easy as yesterday's, and he hasn't eaten since Tuesday. We are going back to the vet today.

Also, the Stroppy One is feeling decidedly under the weather, I've had a combination of a stress and sinus headache for three days, and I can't concentrate enough on anything to work on the writing that NEEDS to be done.

I would like a do-over of this year, thanks. I would also like to curl up, take a very long nap, and have someone gently wake me with a tray of scones, tea, and maybe some storybooks they would read to me. Alternately, I would like to be transformed into a vampire and go on a killing spree. Either option is fine with me.

Tell me cheering things?

Wish I could help

Not sure how much good it will do but have you talked to the vet about the possibility of your cat having fatty liver disease? The symptoms kinda sound like what my cat had. I can't really do anything about wanting to turn into a vamp but I know what you mean and I hope you all start to feel better

Ugh. I've had the headache combo platter myself, so for that alone I can grok how you're feeling. And then add in everything else...So sorry all of this is happening, and hoping for everyone to feel better very, very soon.

I don't know if this is "cheering," exactly, but there's something in it I think you'll be kind of amusedly horrified by. I'm linking rather than embedding because I don't want to spoil it right off the bat. It's work-safe.

I don't have any cheery anecdotes, but this cartoon cat eating cheetos makes me really happy:

Well I can't exactly read to you but

I figured I can send you links to some of the fun stuff that I've been reading lately in hopes that it will give you some cheer.

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyBzHr6xFSU) is a video of a mini cartoon that was done by Aaron Alexovich about his cute little witchy comic Serenity Rose. (If you don't know who that guy is, he is actually one of the animators for Invader Zim but he's done a lot more work in comics recently.) If you're not familiar with that comic, you can actually take a look at the first book (as well as the other ones if you like them) here (http://www.heartshapedskull.com/2002/10/31/working-through-the-negativity-cover/).

This is also a fantastic read! (http://www.amazon.com/How-Survive-Horror-Movie-Skills/dp/1594741794) I read this one every time I need to laugh and for my annual Earth Hour lights out "ghost story" time, this is what I indulged in. (By candle light, armed with an armload of chocolate and other goodies, naturally.)

Hope these help on some level and that you feel better soon. Much love to your kitty.

Don't feel bad about the sub-Q it took us about 2 weeks to get down a good routine. We heated the IV bag on a heating pad so it was warm. Put the bag on a coat hanger and hung it from the dining table light fixture. Cat in a cozy bed held by one of us and the other did the deed and squeezed the bag to speed things up if squirming ensued. Wrapping like a burrito in a towel worked during really squirmy times. Our emergency 24 hour vet hospital was just down the street so we did go in some nights and let them fluid Sam. You are good cat parents its just SO stressful when they don't eat.

Just ordered some fabric samples from Spoonflower. This one made me think of you.

I watched "No Reservations" of the Pacific Northwest yesterday and thought of you. You would've had fun at Voodoo Donuts, schooling Bourdain on matters of Gothic Import.
I wish!

Netflix

unites the world.
Would Jilli and Bourdain be great TV, or what?
Although I still think she should have a Goth Queer Eye and Goth up "ordinary" people in America.

Totally awesome NASA-themed kid's 5th birthday party (http://lifefrosting.blogspot.com/2010/02/astronaut-training-party.html). Painfully adorable, and it had a hanging moon cake!

Umm, [livejournal.com profile] auros and I went cake tasting today for our gothy halloween wedding that's happening Oct 29th. We're going with a vanilla chiffon cake that has apricot mousse and cream cheese frosting and a red velvet cake with blood orange mousse and dark chocolate ganache. And we discussed the design which is going to be a stylized gothic cathedral with an ankh on top!

I successfully mixed a light pink resin today - results should be ready by Monday. :)

Alternately, I would like to be transformed into a vampire and go on a killing spree.

Time to burn a few more copies of Bullets?

Some people stress bake, you can stress burn cds. Take baskets to the neighbors. If you are quick about it, they might still be warm too.

Having the same kind of week, month , year as you it feels... I vote we both do the whole vampire killing spree thing as I hear it dose wonders for the mood.

There is a email coming with some kind of good news for you.

Here! Some nice things that might cheer you up!

I made $25 today selling some baby cloths!

I had lunch with a friend!

Rented a GIGANTIC dumpster to throw out junk in . . . it's SO much fun getting rid of garbage and clutter.

I am getting my hair dyed tomorrow! (Purple-ish red with My Little Pony purple-blue high lights and red highlights)

I am also eating Indian food tomorrow with dear friends!

Feel better Jilli, you rock.

I don't have anything particularly useful to say, but I'm thinking good thoughts about you and yours. I hope things start sucking way less for you.

Was doing my online window-shopping just now and these http://www.freepeople.com/sale-sale-shoes/all-ruffle-field-boot-18458299/ made me think of you. Not quite granny boots, but maybe with pink laces?
Hope you and the Stroppy One and your kitty feel better!

I hope your poor cat gets better soon, and that those horrible headaches will disappear. If I could, I'd bring you homemade scones (my mum's recipe, naturally), which are especially delicious with apricot jam.

Despite my compliant kitty, I ended up with a lapful of iv fluid and the most laid back annoyed cat ever after I was SURE I had the hang of it.

And in both my kitties' cases, there was no definitive diag, all hail mary anti-bs, anti-nausea, app-stim and babyfood and tuna juice and fluids. Multiple ultrasounds showed nothing, kitties just barfed and had diarrhea and didn't eat until we fed 'em IV and drugs for over a week at least (and at totally different times and homes.) The diabetic one was hospitalized, but the other cleared up at home.

I hope your boy has the same stupid non-diag illness and cheers up soon to go back to being a food vacuum.

If we knew each other better, I'd offer to do so (the scones and storybook, not the killing spree. Although I could probably be talked into clean-up duty).

Just as long as you don't mind the storybook being Stellaluna. I LOVED that book, and plan to find copies to tuck into my hope-chest.

Remember if you do go on a killing spree stick to the Vampires for the Ethical Treatment of Humans guidelines and only slaughter politicians, telemarketers and those earning more the $5million per year.

I'm in LA visiting my folks. I ate a big cupcake today, and thought of you.

I am (unfortunately?) pretty good at giving kitties fluids by now, and I don't live far. Seriously. I can offer a hand or even do the whole thing if you have a night where it just isn't happening.

I will be astounded if you don't already know this webcomic, but I just found it myself, and it's hilarious and involves vampires. Non-sparkly ones, although I suspect Audric would enjoy it.

I think you need this because being silly is good sometimes.

And this because it is shiny.(by the way if you want to make me to make you custom a patch of that shiny stuff just let me know. I have a lot of fun painting it.)
