In addition to going to Target* and acquiring black leggings with pink and grey bats on them (Halloween PJs, yay!), today I:

- Did the final read-through of my story for Steampunk Tales issue 9 and sent it off to my editor. Final word count: 4,615 words.

- Wrote 2,196 words on the mysterious fiction project I'm not talking about. (I know, I'm silly, but I have not yet gotten to a point where I feel comfortable talking about it except to very small group of people. Heck, I've only just gotten to the point where I feel like I can talk about it at ALL.) For my next trick, I need to keep up that sort of word count on it every few days! I can do that! (Um, I think.)

And yesterday I altered my Bauhaus "Bela Lugosi's Dead" t-shirt, giving it a lace-trimmed, scooped neckline and completely re-constructing the sleeves. The Infamous BlueJay would have been so proud of me meticulously pinning the sleeves in place. (The Infamous BlueJay very recently gave me lessons in sewing sleeves. She's threatening to teach me how to make blouses next.)

*The Halloween merchandise is not out yet. The Target employee I talked to said that Halloween would go up after Back-To-School comes down. So what, a week? Maybe?

OMG Baaaaaats! Are they more like leggings or more like pj pants? Also, if they aren't out yet, how did you get them? ;) You're crafty!

Leggings! And I should have said that the only Halloween merch out at Target is the PJs. :)

Point of encouragement

As a fiction writer, I will tell you that there's nothing silly about being protective of your project. Writing a good story is hard work and often times well meaning people will say something that makes you totally lose faith in something for nothing. If you haven't been writing a lot of fiction or you feel rusty at it, keeping it under covers for now is the best thing you can do for yourself. That and keeping up writing it, of course.

Best of luck and happy writing to you!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Um. Yes, that's been my experience, which is WHY I'm being so protective of this particular project. You're absolutely right.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one this excited about Halloween this far in advance! The biggest problem with living in England, I swear, is that most people just don't GET Halloween. But now the weather is turning Autumnal and I've already designed my costume and am scouring the internet for fabrics for it!

You are very lucky to have Target, etc. available to you for Halloween goodies! It's so minimal over here. But I celebrate the heck out of it anyway. :)

Hooray for Halloween!

Woohoo bat leggings!! I'll have to go over this week to make sure I get some before they sell out! I just wish they were tights...I hate leggings...well, I'll think about it. They didn't have feet, right? :(

Friday I went fabric shopping in the NYC Garment District and found pink and black stripey material. I bought the end of the bolt (abt 3 yds). I think you've successfully engaged in long distance fashion mind control.

Oh, I can't wait! I love the Target Halloween center. Always such fun stuff.

Next week, really? I hope so. I can't wait to shop for some spooky home decor. :)

teehee, I'm also waiting for Halloween stuff to come out...when else can I find glow-in-the-dark nail polish and feathered eyelashes at the drugstore?
