The weekend was Quite Nice. To celebrate [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage finishing with his deadline, we went off to B&O for sugary treats on Friday night. I now have a new favorite drink, called The Brit (champagne, Vanilla Stoli, and Chambord. Verrrry tasty, and the look on The Husband's face when I ordered it was priceless.

We didn't have any real plans for Valentine's Day, as the extremely swanky resturant we wanted to go to was full (we'll go there next week). Instead, we had lunch at Septiem, then I hung around with [livejournal.com profile] alexiarnps while The Husband went home and read gaming books to decompress from painting. That evening we ended up having nibbly food for dinner and watching movies.

The gothy shopping trip on Sunday went well, even with the ongoing comedy of discovering that multiple places we had planned on hitting lied on their websites and were indeed closed on Sundays.

Over the weekend, I certainly did my part to bolster the economy: H*t T*pic was having a 50% off all clearance sale, so I picked up gothy Hello Kitty stationary AND the book about the history of Disney's Haunted Mansion (the entire history, not just the silly movie). More black clothes were purchased, assorted Gothic Lolita magazines (oooh, Vol. 11 is out!), and a stack of books from various used bookstores.

Semi-shameful confession time: I have a fondness for "The Truth about Vampires Today!!!" non-fiction books. Usually, they're just over-the-top and funny; entertaining popcorn books. That's what I expected when I picked up Piercing the Darkness". But so far, it's actually a good book. The author frequently stresses that there are many, many different vampire subcultures and only a few of them cross over with Goth (or role-players or the fetish scene, for that matter). The book is nothing like I expected, having looked at the cringe-worthy pictures in the middle of it. I'm pretty impressed so far.

Wow. The Brit sounds exactly like what I'd enjoy. Three of my favorite ingredients, there. Wait, the B & O has this? Eep.

If I beg pathetically, would you pick me up a Haunted Mansion book that I could buy back from you?

Re:

If they have another one, sure. You may be better off ordering one from the HT website, however.

Just popping by to say I thought of you yesterday in the grocery store. Jet-puffed is making Easter marshmallows in the shape of bunnies.
