White jackets and dresses. WTF? Why do I suddenly want white or creme colored frock coats or dresses?

There's this one, with a bustle-effect and a bow (clicky-link!), from the UK eBay seller Theatreoffashion. (Whom I have purchased things from before, and they're wonderful people. I just don't know if I love *that* particular blazer enough to pay over $100 for it.)

Or the Chemise a la Reve dress (clicky-link!), from Vivcore. (With the black sash, of course.) I'd wear it with black fence net tights, black ballet slippers or ankle boots, my hair pulled up, my b&w mini tricorn, and black lipstick.

Then there's always this frock coat-with-faux-waistcoat thing (clicky-link!), from Angel Secret. I have a waistcoat from them that I love.

Or the Ivory Carriage Coat from Clockwork Couture! (clicky-link!) Hmmm, that's one is kind of a serious contender, actually. I could replace the brass buttons with black ones ...

But seriously? White jackets or dresses? This is kind of new for me.

It's not *that* new, as bits of my closet can attest.

and these are marvelously lined items. *I* would wear them all, but I like to wear white and cream.

Plus, you know, sun season is upon us and light colors do so much better in the sun than a lot of black.

Why do I suddenly want white or creme colored frock coats or dresses?

Because it's nearly summer, and you've been reading novels with Victorian (or -inspired) settings.

(Round about this time of year, I always start looking longingly at Edwardian lawn gowns and white cami/bloomer sets.)

Hey, this coming monday is white night at my local goth club in SF! Perhaps you're catching our vibes from a distance?

Also, I told my sweetie I'd dearly love it if he would wear a white tuxedo to our wedding. Because of course *I* am wearing a black dress and if we both wear black we'll miss out on that lovely contrast! That faux-waistcoat frock coat is about perfect. Too bad it looks like it doesn't come in boy's sizes :(

White pique with loads of black passementerie is both high Victorian fashion and unusual enough in the modern day to appeal to your sensibilities.

And they might be Les Passementeries Horribles?

Well, it is summertime...white has its advantages. White is so pristine, as well...when it's worn well it is spectacular.

Perhaps now would be a good time to mention the cream tonal stripe fabric I have lying around somewhere. And the cream/ecru brocade.

The third link...I have just the fabric in mind for that. We'll scheme on sunday.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY REASONS YOU ARE SO DELIGHTFULLY BADASS AND WONDERFUL!

So, how goes the video game of shooting things? :)

DEATH FROM THE SKIES.

I mean...

The game is a time suck and wonderfully so.

Also, that white dress is darling, but $185? Seriously? For cotton? Gosh. Another one that looks like it can be whipped together in a night. A NIGHT.

Definitely go for the one from Angel Secret. I just got their school girl jacket and plaid power shoulder jacket. Both of them are great!

The Chemise a la Reve dress is stunning and would look amazing on you!
I go through phazes sometimes where I want white things. I don't know why - maybe it's an irony thing? Or to shock people, haha.
Either way, there's nothing anywhere that says goths can't pull of white with amazing style and grace!
/coolface. xD x

Also, just reading through other comments left here it's certain that it will have something to do with thinking of Victorian things, and of course the hot weather.
I'm sure you'll look good in any of these things =)

Did you watch Wife Swap last night?!?!?

There was a Goth family. As I watched I could not stop thinking of you. Weird since we've never met. lol

If you do swap out the brass buttons, and don't want them, I'd give them a good home. ;)

Ohhh, that's a good point. Do you need bright brass buttons, too? Because if you DO, then I'm bringing you a goodie bag the next time I get to the Steamrats meet-up. :)

Yes, I do need bright brass buttons as well! Thank you! Although, I don't make it to meetup as often as I used to, so drop me a note first?

I was just about to say "because it's summertime and the weather is hot, silly!", but everyone else said it for me, albeit in more mannerly terms. :-) I'm actually sitting here in a white cotton embroidered nightgown that I got from Target several years back w/the idea of wearing it as a dress, but just never got around to it. It's high-waisted w/short puffed raglan sleeves which help make a rounded square (squarish-round?) neckline front & back, w/lace trim, a couple of teeny pearl buttons on the front, a long ribbon that ties, and a ruffle on the bottom. It's rather short for me (barely covers my knees when standing still, so there are white bike shorts under it to maintain some degree of decency. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable wearing it for my usual day-to-day activities, but I'm planning on attending a pool party later, and I don't think anyone there will be giving me too hard of a time about it. :-) Now if I could just figure out how to get it to cover the damn bra straps... *sigh*

Because white makes black and pink stand out even better?

From: [identity profile] megumi-selwyn.livejournal.com

A word of caution on Angel Secret, I've ordered from them a few times and it's VERY hit-or-miss. Of three separate orders, two were dreadful. I bought a winter coat that came in looking more like a bath-robe, both in fabric and construction, and a steel-boned corset that came in flimsily constructed and ten inches too small.

That being said, I own the coat you linked in black, and it's FABULOUS. Probably my favourite item in my wardrobe. Maybe jackets are their specialty? In any case, just thought I'd give you a heads up on the spotty reliabilty there.

You have been influenced by the "shiro" coordinates of lolistyle?

You already do white and black stripes; surely white pieces could be easily and beautifully incorporated into your look as well?

From: [identity profile] tutneko.livejournal.com

White is summer's black. And besides, if we only ever wore black, we'd boil to bits.

The first one looks gorgeous!
I've been reading your columns for years and I've added you on livejournal quite a while ago already, but I don't think I've ever commented before. The reason I do now, is that I've accidentally stumbled upon this cute little game that reminded me of you. It involves pink cupcakes with skulls on them. ^^

Wow those are lovely!
Of course you are craving white! I'ts summer and sometimes you just need to have something white & creamy - a-la whipped cream or icecream! :)
