One of my problems when I'm sick (other than just BEING sickly, ugh), is that I feel guilty about it. I should be Doing Stuff. I should be writing, or sewing, or or or not having to be taken care of. Yes, I know, it doesn't make any sense, and certainly won't help me get better. But I can't help it.

Of course, while being flopped on the Couch Of Plague, I have come up with two different clothing alteration projects that I want to do RIGHT NOW. But I do realize that trying to wield scissors, pins, and needles would probably not be a particularly clever thing to do right now. Not to mention that all I really have energy for is being curled up on the Couch Of Plague. Good lord, READING is tiring, which is pretty much a sign of the apocalypse in JilliLand.

Bleah. So, so tired of feeling wretched. And I bet I won't feel magically All Better tomorrow, either.

you've been ill a lot this year, it seems. Perhaps you should have a chat with your doctor about this? is something you are on fucking with your immune system? You've been sick almost as many times as *I* have, sweetie. That's a *very bad sign*.

I think my multiple rounds of being ill are manifestations of the last bits of stress last year. But yes, I'm going to talk to my doctor about it, don't worry.

okay, good. It is very easy, when in the throes of being so ill, to lose track of just how often you have been ill as opposed to how long and whether there is an issue or if you only think there might be. ... so I wanted to be sure to come forward with the observation, unsolicited. It's *noticeable*.

OMG, I totally get the 'sick / guilty' thing. It's horrible.

God, isn't it? I keep apologizing to the Stroppy One for being sick, and he keeps telling me to stop being silly.

Yep, that was me last weekend (although I was at least capable of sewing). It was very frustrating.

Lots of tea, even more water (especially if you're using any kind of expectorant, which will dry you out), lots of Ricola. You might also wish to try the wine/vodka treatment that worked so well on my cough, and made me care less about being sick. ;)

But do take care of yourself.

That's right, I remember you posting about being sickly. I may opt for absinthe instead of wine/vodka. ;)

Absinthe should be fine. I'm pretty sure it's the alcohol that matters, not the specifics of type. (Flippancy aside, it's got something to do with easing constriction of the bronchia and relaxing the cough reflex.)

Absolutely. My housemate had this plague over the weekend, and was using shots of amaretto to ease the cough -- we call it the Almond Flavored Cough Medicine because normally she doesn't drink.

I hope you feel better soon, Jilli!

huh. I have the opposite problem - sometimes when work is really stressful I hope I'll get sick so I have an excuse to sit and home on my ass at do nothing (except maybe watch Law & Order reruns all day) and not feel guilty about doing so.

I should probably take "mental health" days instead to avoid ACTUALLY getting sick. But that WOULD make me feel guilty!

Poo! A pox on thy pox, woman!

:(

If I could, I'd give the germs a Stern Talking To (and even a Finger-Wag of Fail) and send them packing. I wanna DAAAAAANCE.

Don't make me to go the gay bear dancey-thing on Friday...OH NO NOT I.

I know that should be Doing Stuff feeling when sick. It's really not for the best to push on and do it, even though it's so hard not too. You'll be well sooner if you just rest. Hope you conquer the plague soon.

Beware, I think Clovis may be looking for his stethoscope. He assures me it's because he's trying to be helpful...

By the way - if you need anything - remember I'm just a block away...
