The official Work From Home day for my team! Which means the usual Friday treats of sleeping in (ohthankgod), spending time with the Stroppy One and the kitties, and coffee, quiche, and a pan au chocolate from Cafe Besalu!

Work From Home Friday also means that I can do laundry in between editing docs (whee?), and do the second part of the mud on head process. Yes, I'm going back to henna and indigo to color my hair. None of the demi-perm dyes I used were giving me a lasting blue-black, drat it. Which means NO, there will be no photos today.

There won't even be photos from Clubland tonight - both my usual companions for going out dancing are unable to go, so I'm going to spend the evening watching movies with the Stroppy One. And maybe cutting out the pieces for another ruffled skirt o' doom.

So what are you people doing for the weekend? Fun stuff?

I'm going to a funeral and a wedding, with my whole extended family. Two RC churches in as many days!

Fun stuff not on the agenda.

I'm going to my first-ever Faith and the Muse show! A lovely opportunity to wear my dainty mini-top-hat for the first time. (I don't get to go to shows often for a variety of reasons, so when I do, I look forward to them immensely!)

Awww, no clubphotos? D:

I'll be clubbing tonight and tomorrow, sewing all day tomorrow, and going to walk around Ann Arbor college town for a friend's birthday on Sunday! I've got to finish at least 1 skirt this weekend in order to not die before Acen! XD

Hey I'm at loose ends today/tonight if you want some company. Have craft stuff - will travel (okay so it's only a block and a half but still...)

I am intensely jealous of your Work-From-Home-Friday. The last time I worked from home it was to accept a furniture delivery. I learned that it's hard to work from home without furniture.

I'm gonna drink French Martinis and draw a sassy burlesque girl at Dr. Sketchys tomorrow.

You will have a great time! I went on Sunday and it was AMAZING!! :D:D:D I am jealous of you - I want to go again!

Tomorrow I might venture to Ballard, to watch drunk metalheads try to play softball. I also need to track down this year's Syttende Mai (Norwegian Constitution Day) pins for my father and I, and again, Ballard is the place for that.

Or, sit in a cafe drinking tea, eating nibbles, and sketching. If you ever venture to Rainier Valley, Columbia City Bakery has some outstanding treats, and it's only a couple of blocks off the Light Rail Columbia City stop.

Alas, the government's habit of paying two weeks in arrears means I'm still flat broke and thus can't afford to go see Faith and the Muse tomorrow, Assemblage 23 on Sunday, or Echo & the Bunnymen on Monday evening, because I don't get paid until Wednesday. Echo & the Bunnymen are sold out anyway.

I did go dancing Wednesday night! Hooray for no cover and a boyfriend who'll buy me drinks. And I was wearing this (https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/myalbum/photos/photo14/dc/e1/751993eba11f__1271879227000.jpeg").

We're going to Chelan for our anniversary (again). We're taking Shylah along this time.

Also, it looks like I'm gonna be working with the flamingoes and red pandas. :D

Can't you mix the henna and the indigo together and apply it, instead of doing it in two steps?

I remember using a black henna back in the early 90s that gave me blue-black hair. However. Now that I have a lot of gray, the blue-black is just way too blue. And so I must use hair dye. They CALL it black, but it looks more like a very dark brown. Ah, well. At least it's not gray!

You can mix the henna and indigo together, but that results in a dark brown. And since I want as an unnatural blue-black as I can get, I need to do the two step process.

I have a lot of grey, too! Which means I'll end up with blue "highlights", which will make me very happy.

Off topic but I have to ask: Have you seen or had these lovely mints (http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/wacky-edibles/ce7d/)? (Yes that is a clicky link for you) They actually taste like cupcake frosting too.

As for weekend plans, I am spending the time with my bride to be sister as our relatives shower her with gifts that will make her blush. :)

Sewing! Man, I hope I have time to do that this weekend. Just don't kill yourself with the prep for Acen, okay?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

Oooh, Dr. Sketchy's! The Stroppy One has been talking about attending the Seattle ones. I think he should.

Oh, what a pretty outfit!

I'm sorry you won't be able to go to any of the shows.

XDXD SO MUCH TO DO!!
But it's a self-imposed busy-ness, so it's like a fun challenge. Or..well...at least that's what I keep telling myself!! :D

I was so thrilled to have a pre-dancing primping session with a friend of mine, too, which meant I could wear that corset!

I have just learned that the Psychedelic Furs are going to be coming to Boston in June. I should have enough money to buy my ticket shortly!

I WANT A TELEPORT. I would go but I can't afford the gas!

From: [identity profile] m-cobweb.livejournal.com

Augh--this must mean I have enough gray to be annoying and drab, but not enough to get the blue highlights. Of course...

Devil League Softball. Apparently lots of beer and Maiden are consumed. And home runs? Not so much. Hopefully, it'll a blast.

I used to love using henna and indigo to color my hair...I was allergic to black dye, so it was my only option o_O I'm not vain enough to prefer pretty hair to breathing! Ordering indigo online from Mehandi got too expensive, though...I had butt-length hair and was using 500g each time. I cut off most of my hair, bleached the henna out of what was left, dyed it brown and am letting my hair grow back into its preferred mousy brown shade...the pinnacle of Gothic romance, right?
Anyway, enjoy your henna and indigo! They're so good for your hair, it will look more beautiful than ever :)

*sigh* No fun stuff for me this weekend, I'm afraid, I get to stay in bed with the flu. *pouts* Re-reading Lost Souls makes me feel a bit better, though.

I'm going to a store called Recycled Rags then to DISNEYLAND :3

Do you buy henna and indigo online, or have you found a local supplier? I use henna/indigo to dye my hair black, too, and I really like the results (especially to cover gray!). But I've been buying it online and the cost of shipping almost doubles its cost.. which is already twice the price of a box of Nice & Easy. Worth it, I guess.. even though I have to tarp the bathroom on Hair Mud Day!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I buy my henna from local Indian grocery shops (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre for that tip!). This time around I ordered my indigo from Henna Hut (http://www.hennahut.com/), and it arrived in 4 days.

Yes, more expensive than good ol' Nice & Easy. But SO much better for our hair!

Sounds like a good day. :D

On Sunday, I go visit Drexel University in Philly to see if their Masters of Library Science program would be a good fit for me. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.

From: [identity profile] caleidescopeyes.livejournal.com

Oh! I can't wait to see the result.
I really want to switch back to henna, though it takes a small army to successfully dye my hair with it.

On the other hand, I am now at a production of Evil Dead The Musical. With my kid

Family values FTW!

I shall be taking my little monkey on a picnic today and possibly roller skating along the River, then tomorrow and Monday (for ours is a LOOOOOOOONG weekend) are going to be spent doing an intensive Roller Derby training camp... I could possibly die... Maybe I might see if anyone wants to come and watch movies and sew with me tonight... Hmmm... Your weekend still sounds delightfully serene. :)

I had my BFA opening friday evening but the rest of the weekend of out since its going to be storming all weekend long.

Fun stuff... Hmm... Does clearing out the 'Finished Product' box in the sewing room and then maticulasly putting them up on Etsy count?

I haven't even put it all up yet. *sigh*

I'm dying my mousy brown hair auburn (that's the result, can't get it lighter) with henna. I use grapefruit juice to mix it, let it sit for about 24 hours, apply it shortly before I go to bed and rinse it out when I wake up. It needs a lot of covering the pillow with old towels, but the result is worth it.
Maybe you try this method, too? All you'll get will be a darker base colour for your indigo, and the indigo dyeing process will only take 2 hours of your daytime.

I'll be off in the park for Jugger today. Fun! :D
