I am working at home today, thanks to the wonders of a smart card and remote access privileges. I am VERY VERY GLAD I have these things, as I feel very fuzzy and unwell. (I'll be over it by tomorrow, it's just that my period is being particularly unpleasant this month.) But this means I can edit while being flopped on the couch with the cats, thank goodness.

Since I AM working at home and feeling unwell, there will be no SFD photos. You are all wonderful people, but I am not presenting you with a photo of me in stripy pj pants, a "fangbanger" t-shirt, a Bat's Day hoodie, and bunny slippers. Sorry, you will just have to use your imagination.

Last night I DID get writing done, and the next GCS column is off to the beta readers. Yay! Speaking of GCS, I have a question: It has been suggested to me that I start cross-posting my assorted fashion (and possibly book) reviews that I post here on LJ over to GCS, in their own section. I am intrigued by this idea, but the writing style for GCS is rather different than how I write over here in LJ-Land. But doing this would certainly give me a quick way to keep a tiny bit of new content on Gothic Charm School in between the advice columns. What do you folks think of the idea?

Okay, more tea and editing. And ibuprofen.

Crossposting - I think it'd be a great idea. More exposure for both you and the media/fashion you're reviewing.

My suggestion, were you to bring this suggestion to fruition, would be to debrief your readers in some way as you do in the GCS book, before you start writing in the first person.

Forgive me if that sounded redudant or incoherent; my insomnia has kept me awake for over 30 hours now (yikes). ::toddles off to bed::

Definitely cross post them. If you would like to maintain the integrity of your writing style on GCS without having to rewrite the reviews you post here, simply create a new nom de plume and personality for the reviews. Write a quick intro for your new contributor, set up a section on GCS, and cross post away! :)

I suspect that you have done an article on this topic already, but would you mind writing again on the subject of gift-giving, perhaps including some pointers on what or where to look for our Snarky friends and family? I know you mentioned the local fair in Seattle, but there may be some other advice on the subject?

(Personally, I like shopping at the Dickens Fair, to help support the artists. Added plus is that most of my friends will appreciate an item of Victorian influence. Tee hee!)

Yes, yes they do appreciate items of Victorian influence! :)

I really do hope that someday I'll be able to visit the Dickens Fair. It sounds like so much fun.

Well, perhaps something can be done for next year. Let me think upon it and see what can be done. :)

I think cross-posting could be good, but frame it somehow as a more homey, intimate, frank encounter with the Headmistress. What would be the appropriate room at Gothic Charm School for her to talk about embroidering bloomers? Perhaps the Teacher's Lounge?

I for one would love to see the cross-posting. I can never get enough fashion. ;-)

Personally, I'm all for more book reviews. =)

I think that's a great idea, actually. New content! You could possibly slant the style a little more toward traditional GCS style, but you wouldn't *have* to.

crossposting sounds like a great idea. Same with anything else you talk about, such as the make-up and fashion info and etc. It wouldn't take much to tailor those SFD posts for GCS readers.

maybe a sub-section entitled "GCS Reviews" with its own wordpress install so that you can mingle the two but they remain mostly separate since the styles are different and so is the purpose? that's off the top of my head anyway. :) I hope you do feel better tomorrow.

You should do it. ^_^

I used my imagination.

May I have a sticker now?

I just went and looked at your "imagination" and I thought it was utterly wonderful! ***sigh*** I wish the artistic muse of drawing would take up residence in my world, but, alas...she is much too busy to bother with me. I don't have any stickers, but do have a few cats I could loan out, if you'd like!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

That is RIDICULOUSLY cute! And hey, you even got the new pink in my hair! Yes, you get many sparkly star and bat stickers!

(What's really funny is that Clovis the Devilbunny is indeed sitting right next to me.)

You are very, very talented, and I feel very privileged that you are sharing that talent with me.

I definitely agree- crosspost them.
Just make sure there's a disclaimer/they're in a different segment so people who do not like your more casual writing style here don't have to read them.
Personally I think more people would begin to follow GCS because they'd feel like they "know" you to some extent. (Look at all the twitter followers of celebrities every word)

Hope you are feeling better. And now for something completely off topic. I know you are often looking for new vampire songs. Well Genitorturers just came out with a new release and this particular song doesn't sound like their typical hard almost metal sound. The song is called Vampire Lover and I really think you'd like it. Sounds like it actually could be part of a soundtrack for a vampire movie.
