A German reader of Gothic Charm School emailed me today, saying that they thought I should be a guest at the next Wave Gotik Treffen, especially since it will be the 20th anniversary.
Oh, don't I wish. I have wanted to go to WGT for YEARS.
The letter-writer went on to say that they don't actually know any of the WGT organizers, they just thought it would be a nifty idea. Over the next couple of days, I might do some poking around the WGT site and see if they even ever have non-music guests.
But yes. I would love to go to WGT, and to Whitby Goth Weekend in England. Quick, someone convince the organizers of those events they need to have me attend as a special guest!
(I figure I have nothing to lose by making this sort of general request to the universe at large. Who knows? It might actually work!)

Soooo if you're interested... I would love to cut some of the cost down..
AND, don't look at the flight cost right now, you'll need to look at about 2-3 months out, they'll drop by a bunch...

(And on a complete tangent, you're using that black + pink tricorn icon as subliminal advertising on me, aren't you? I'm on to your tricks, missy! ::grin::

I understand about the budget thing, I'll have to sell a LOT of hats to make it out there. I wish Sage still had good friends out there, at least he'd only have to brush up on his German to go.
If you did go out there, it would be a business expense :D

So give them an opportunity to say no. Simply ask them. Ask ALL the orgainizers. Ship out a couple of copies of your book with a hand writen note and any other colateral you many have.
May I remind you, most all of the tallent we had for C6 ASKED to play. Our MC (your favorite friend) ASKED for the gig.
Best of luck! You are awesome and the world should know it!

Alex got back to me and just wants to know who or what you want to do to help put you in touch with who you need too. He knows every one who runs that event and has a good working relationship with them so he can help.
Also apply as a guest for Dragon con, they take very good care of there guest and the sheer amount of people that go to that a year it will be worth it for you to go. Also we are going to be there as well as Terrence from Reop is getting taken as a guest so even more people I know will be there that you can get along with.
I have been awake a total of 3 hours in the past 24 so your letter will come in the next day or so.

And be told, if they don't take you they don't deserve you. Period.
I also admit that I suggested being at the WGT for selfish reasons, as going to the U.S. of A. exceeds my budget by far...
Well, I fervently hope they take you as a guest!
