I had grand plans last night of hair dye and writing up my review of the Emilie Autumn show, but that feeling really tired I mentioned? When one whimpers at the thought of having to get up and pack one's lunch, it is time for a night of Doing Nothing. So I flopped on the couch and started reading the new Terry Pratchett book. Good heavens, my birthday is in a smidge under two weeks, and I have no idea what to do for it. Doing what I did last year (gathering at Club V) is out for a variety of reasons. But I want to do something for my 41st, I just don't know what.

The clever of you will have realized that I originally posted this from Beetlejuice the iPhone (hence the outfit photo), and then edited it to add all of this. Which means I'll be all Olde Skool and include the text version of Shallow Fashion Details!
  • My precious Fluevog Babycake boots!
  • Pink tights with black stripes from Nordstrom Rack. (They were originally white, but a pot of RIT is my friend.)
  • Black petticoat under the skirt. (A present from Mom ages and ages ago; she used to wear it for square dancing.)
  • Black skirt with a pink applique featuring a vampire bunny. I made the skirt; the applique came from a t-shirt I purchased at San Diego Comic Con. [livejournal.com profile] clovisdvlbunny is very fond of this skirt.
  • Black blouse with lace details, from Goodwill.
  • Black waistcoat, from Ross.
  • Keyhole and skull pendant on pink ribbon (from Etsy seller BelaLily), skull perfume locket (from BPAL), the usual rings.
  • Pink and black armwarmers, made by me from a pair of cute socks I found at Fred Meyer.
  • The current usual makeup: YSL Touch Eclat, a dusting of Aromaleigh "Glissade" and "High Resolution Finishing Powder", Aromaleigh eyeshadows in "Angel Wing", "Flirt A Little", and "Candy", black liquid liner, mascara, and Kat Von D lipstick in "Homegirl".
  • Hair down and glasses, because contact lenses are just not happening for the next few mornings.

That is the cutest skirt EVAR!

You could maybe have a birthday tea party here: http://queenmarytea.com/ - space is a bit limited - maybe you could take over the place...

You should have a tea party for your birthday!

...and invite me.

I would love to have a tea party for my birthday and invite you! Sadly, that involves some level of organization I don't know if I'm capable of at the moment.

From: [identity profile] noxenlux.livejournal.com

hint to other people to prep it for you?

I'm not super busy and I would be willing to help plan something.

From: [identity profile] domestinatrix.livejournal.com

Whatevs! If you want a tea party, I conveniently have one up my sleeve just waiting for you.

If you're free for lunch either tomorrow or Friday we can meet and go over details, then you can send out invitations before the weekend.

The Saturday following your birthday might be a whole lot easier for me than the Sunday before (the Saturday before and the Sunday after are no good), but we can figure out what's best all around.

Ooooh, tea party!

The Sunday before my birthday is no good for me, as I have an event that afternoon. But the Saturday follwing would be good!

Let me check with the Stroppy One (just to make sure he's not being clever and not telling me anything), and then yes. Lunch or snacks in the next day or so.

and Kat Von D lipstick in "Homegirl".

::giggles::

That skirt is fantastic!

Did you make a typo there? I can't believe you are nearly 41! I would have said AT LEAST 10 years younger. I am just 3 months behind you. I get very excited when I find someone of a similar age to me on LJ, or anywhere on the internet for that matter. You look fabulous!

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

No typo, I really am going to be 41 soon. But yeah, I get told that I don't look my age. :)

From: [identity profile] tinkerbell86ca.livejournal.com

You DO look younger, by atleast 10 years. Then again, you mentioned in your book people guess you are younger than you really are because of the way you choose to dress, which is younger looking. And you look as cute as a pink satin button!

why not have a few people who love you come over to shower you with attention and funny stories and gifts, and drink tea in the afternoon that weekend?

FORTY-ONE??? Not possible. Not in the least.

From: [identity profile] girlgoth.livejournal.com

Hrmm...I need armwarmers. I think I'm going to raid my sock drawer and make some conversions. :)

aiiiieeeee! I shall, sadly, be leaving again before your birthday! We shall simply have to have a celebratory cupcake a bit early, perhaps when we're out on the Reverend's birthday?

Will witter elsenet. :)

O___O You're forty-one?41?! I was thinking along the lines of 28ish to the 30s-You look so very young.I hope you have a lovely birthday as well(when the time rolls around).

What do you *want* to do for your birthday? Do you want to go somewhere, or do you want to do something home-centric? We could go to a museum, or some sort of show/movie (other than the new sparkly vampire which has to wait a couple weeks). We could have a fall picnic with hot chocolate which could either be charming or really cold. Or maybe we should start with details and work outwardly towards a plan rather than the other way around. What type of cake do you want, and is either Jay or Mom already on line to bake it?

From: [identity profile] cupcake-goth.livejournal.com

I don't think Jay is on line to bake a cake, but I will double-check with her. Mom does not bake. (Tho' birthday artichoke dip is good!)

That skirt just made me squeak with delight! I am glad you found a job where you can be yourself :) Hopefully that will happen for me soon.

That skirt is so adorable! also, I was singing that song this morning as I got ready! It's nice to know that other people appreciate it too!

I love your wardrobe, Bring on more SFDS!! Your fashion is truly inspiring.

I think you look rather smashing in brainy specks ;).

Ah Bunnicula! I remember reading that book! I may have to go find another copy and reread :D.

I'm loving your fashion updates; you always keep me inspired, even though pink is the bucket o' water to my Wicked Witch of the West. ;)

41st Birthday? Well you look like you're in your early 30s to me, young lady.

From: [identity profile] pix-kristin.livejournal.com

You should dye the patches I sent you pink! I thought about doing it myself before I sent them but figured you have a lot more experience with dyes (especially pink dyes) than I do.
