Ginger...liqueur? I have my ginger vodka, of course, but a liqueur would be a fine addition to the bar.

And this column is definitely marking a generational shift for me. I'm still boggled at how freely people throw their real names around online nowadays.

I've been pretty quiet this summer, but I wanted to let you know that I love it when a new article comes out. You're doing a wonderful job!

Look what I did!

(Plugged GCS on my journal. Woo-hoo.)

I have noticed how nicknames are becoming household for some internet users, while others are still tossing their names around. I admit to using my real name from time to time, but I also have a nickname of sorts (more a pseudonym) that I go by. I guess it depends on who I'm talking to.

I have to admit, if "Vampira" is the nickname she's had for years, I can see why people new to her acquaintance would be rather taken aback. (Though I seriously doubt anyone ever thought it was her real name.) It must be almighty irritating for it to become an issue now, though!

Of course, I also have a friend who's spent the last ten years going by the name of Jupiter, and no one bats an eyelash. In fact, most people do think it's her real name. So it's probably more a give-it-time issue than anything else.

A lovely column, as always!

Since I am 'fessing up to being the one to send that one, I can say nope, that is not thenickname in question. I donä't eel comfortableseeking columy advice under any of my regular monikers so I picked the one Voltaire's What Is Goth assigned to me some time ago since it seemed vaguely appropriate :)

Hi, nice to meet you! And my condolences on the whole issue-- hopefully, as I said, it's just a matter of time before people get over it. (Also, those people may need better drama, if this is what they waste gossip on...)

Hopefully so. If nothing else works, I jsut have to give them someting else to talk about by behaving in some other outrageous fashion! :)

I was wondering about the repeated Voltaire reference. Clever!

Oh yay :)

So what is the ight way of going "oh wow you answered my question, thank you so much!" In a polite manner? :) I'm delighted to have your advice on the matter so thank you! :D
