Again, hi there to all of you new peoples! Thank you for deciding to read my ramblings! I owe a LOT of people replies to comments and messages, and am going to be slowly working through those this week.
Of course, this week (well, today, actually), I need to finally read through the paperwork and sign up for COBRA (because some form of health insurance would be reassuring to my unemployed self), and finish my first draft for this week's Lip Service Webzine. The rest of the week involves (finally!) finishing the Gothic Charm School post about advice for Goths of color, more job hunting (anyone have any job leads for a writer/editor? Let me know!), and culling the closets for the clothing sale that is coming to this LJ Real Soon Now. The culling of the closets is going to be "interesting" (note scare quotes), because I need to make some final decisions about a bunch of things I've been waffling on, including some Lip Service goodies that I never wear.
So, how are all of you folks out in LJ-land doing? Good things happening? Nothing dire looming over you, I hope?

I ended my 6 year relationship.
I'm moving back to the Seattle area (Everett, technically) in Oct/Nov
I think that covers my updates.

This is particularly amusing to me, as I was just over at her place on Saturday, delivering much hand me down clothing and useful items (such as the cradle my father made for me when I was born.)
May not be a babybat, like my own snerpling, but he is a welcome addition. :)

And we had an extremely unfortunate encounter (for her) with a wild hawk, right outside our house. :(

And I guess since you asked, life's been good. I've been fixing up my room. I put up some artwork I have created and a band poster (the GazettE!) I recently acquired. I also was in New York City and I went to the mall a few days ago. I got a new CD there; Emilie Autumn's Opheliac. ♥
School is coming up for me and I'm excited but worried. I'm starting high school, you see...
Yikes yikes.
But generally, I have the feeling that life is going the way I want it to be. Mostly this is because I'm very materialistic and I'm drowning in new stuff right now. Haha.
Good luck with your closet. It might put up a fight, but you can win.

This is the first time I comment so I thought I should introduce myself before I let you know I just woke up from an excellent day's sleep for the first time in aaaaages which also involved some excellently bizarre dreams. So things are rather peachy.

Not so dire: car is under warranty, and the dealer is paying for the rental car while they fix it.
Dire: work is slow and I am not getting as many hours.
Not so dire: this means I had no issue getting time off for an Adventure this coming weekend that involves going dancing in very good company.
Also not so dire: a friend is sending me all her unwanted Goth hairpieces for only the cost of the shipping.
That's pretty much my life.

My Resident Giant has passed his auditions to study Performing Arts at sixth form in September. He also had great fun recently playing both Egeus and Moth in Midsummers Nights Dream and earned a resounding laugh when all six foot seven inches of him went skipping on stage with all the dainty fairies, and when Bottom nearly fell over backwards looking aaaaaall the way uuuuup at him.
Eating chips for supper (probably you would call them fries but they are a lot thicker than that and far nicer than Mcdonalds idea of them)

Like you I am also unemployed, but it is possible for writers to find things out there to do. There is eLance, which I've gotten some short term gigs from. Also,on Twitter there is a group called #freelance - this posts links to jobs posted online and there are writing / editing jobs out there.
Nice to "meet" you! :)

Oh, you know, the usual.
Getting a couple wisdom teeth extracted later this week, then getting my radiation treatment for the Grave's Disease on the 10th and 11th.
Not much else exciting going on for me, but hey, I am alive and kicking, so that's something!

hiyas!
currently things are going okay, i have managed to get control over a bout of severe psoriasis (all with no health insurance - yay patient asst programs!) - as a result i am getting back into living my life ~ hanging with friends, writing zines, planning trips to other east coast cities, doing crafty mischief and just chilling out being thankful that my life is better than it was two years ago at this time.
also i am thankful for a brainless low-paying job that i fell into after being a temp cause in this climate i'm better off than without a job (and i am so sorry to hear that you are not working right now...i do hope that the book takes off so you dont HAVE to worry!)
i am very much looking forward to your column about goths of color and to the closet sale (its hard out here for a plus size goth chick!)
be well,
raequel aka systris

Good luck with the job search. I spent seven months on COBRA myself, not cheap. It might pay to look around for cheaper health care options.

But real life stuff is no fun to think about, so in happy news for a Monday, I just received a new necklace and ring from my fave new seller on etsy, LondonsGate (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6710409). Yay, fab gothy accessories!

So glad you were spotlighted
I'm new to your LJ blog, but have been following your Gothic Charm School for a while. Thank you so much for all your hard work there.
Something good is in the works for me this week and if all goes well, I may just have to celebrate by helping you clean out your closet. :-D
