Again, hi there to all of you new peoples! Thank you for deciding to read my ramblings! I owe a LOT of people replies to comments and messages, and am going to be slowly working through those this week.

Of course, this week (well, today, actually), I need to finally read through the paperwork and sign up for COBRA (because some form of health insurance would be reassuring to my unemployed self), and finish my first draft for this week's Lip Service Webzine. The rest of the week involves (finally!) finishing the Gothic Charm School post about advice for Goths of color, more job hunting (anyone have any job leads for a writer/editor? Let me know!), and culling the closets for the clothing sale that is coming to this LJ Real Soon Now. The culling of the closets is going to be "interesting" (note scare quotes), because I need to make some final decisions about a bunch of things I've been waffling on, including some Lip Service goodies that I never wear.

So, how are all of you folks out in LJ-land doing? Good things happening? Nothing dire looming over you, I hope?

I'm in town again, until the 2nd.
I ended my 6 year relationship.
I'm moving back to the Seattle area (Everett, technically) in Oct/Nov
I think that covers my updates.

I'm happy to be all signed up and reading about your adventures. You stay so busy that its hard to lose interest, though, I will occasionally get distracted by random glittery objects and fiber optic lights.

Hey, I get distracted by random glittery objects and things, so I completely understand. But welcome!

Three cheers for glittery colors in dark places! =-D

Just heard that a fellow costumer and scadian (if you're familiar with the term) had her baby boy on Sunday. Mom and child are well.

This is particularly amusing to me, as I was just over at her place on Saturday, delivering much hand me down clothing and useful items (such as the cradle my father made for me when I was born.)

May not be a babybat, like my own snerpling, but he is a welcome addition. :)

Delivered the latest project without issue, despite hours of panic on Saturday night. Designers can still suck it. :P

And we had an extremely unfortunate encounter (for her) with a wild hawk, right outside our house. :(

'Ello. I'm one of your new snarklings. =P
And I guess since you asked, life's been good. I've been fixing up my room. I put up some artwork I have created and a band poster (the GazettE!) I recently acquired. I also was in New York City and I went to the mall a few days ago. I got a new CD there; Emilie Autumn's Opheliac. ♥

School is coming up for me and I'm excited but worried. I'm starting high school, you see...
Yikes yikes.
But generally, I have the feeling that life is going the way I want it to be. Mostly this is because I'm very materialistic and I'm drowning in new stuff right now. Haha.

Good luck with your closet. It might put up a fight, but you can win.

Mostly okay, my dad went to the emergency room last night, and he's still there. We're not really 100% sure what's going on with him.

I've gone in hospital to hopefully finally get this flare knocked into remission. Yay for internetz access while I'm here.

Hello, I'm Ara, and I added you after the LJ Spotlight albeit I'm a longtime reader of the charm school :)

This is the first time I comment so I thought I should introduce myself before I let you know I just woke up from an excellent day's sleep for the first time in aaaaages which also involved some excellently bizarre dreams. So things are rather peachy.

Hello to you, Lady. Things are revolving and that is good. Happy Monday!

We're about to tackle a couple of painting projects. Stay tuned to see if we (a) get divorced or (b) kill each other. Oh wait! I guess there's always (c) successfully complete painting projects, even though the odds seem slim.

Well, I'm one of your new followers, mainly because I saw you on LJ Spotlight and then saw you in real life and was like, "Dude, that's cool." Nothing new going on in my life, other than the fact that group interviews are awkward and I'm still looking for a job. Funnn.

Dire: my car's transmission decided it didn't want to work on Saturday, over 50 miles from home.

Not so dire: car is under warranty, and the dealer is paying for the rental car while they fix it.

Dire: work is slow and I am not getting as many hours.

Not so dire: this means I had no issue getting time off for an Adventure this coming weekend that involves going dancing in very good company.

Also not so dire: a friend is sending me all her unwanted Goth hairpieces for only the cost of the shipping.

That's pretty much my life.

I am happily puzzling my doctors by still being alive and getting increasingly healthier.
My Resident Giant has passed his auditions to study Performing Arts at sixth form in September. He also had great fun recently playing both Egeus and Moth in Midsummers Nights Dream and earned a resounding laugh when all six foot seven inches of him went skipping on stage with all the dainty fairies, and when Bottom nearly fell over backwards looking aaaaaall the way uuuuup at him.

Eating chips for supper (probably you would call them fries but they are a lot thicker than that and far nicer than Mcdonalds idea of them)

I had to get my braces tightened today, and school starts for me on Thursday, but that's about it for dire stuff going on in Mattville.

Hubby's still unemployed (since July 11th), but thd good news is I still have a job. Some of us who have been here at my job a while got a surprise bonus last Friday. It's usually a yearly bonus from the client depending on if you've been here at least a year, but in these troubled economic times there was doubts we'd get one. Personally, I'm just glad I have a job. Now I have a little bit of extra $$ for bills and food. So far life is good.

I am one of your new readers, myself. I must say I am glad I tuned in.

Like you I am also unemployed, but it is possible for writers to find things out there to do. There is eLance, which I've gotten some short term gigs from. Also,on Twitter there is a group called #freelance - this posts links to jobs posted online and there are writing / editing jobs out there.

Nice to "meet" you! :)

So, how are all of you folks out in LJ-land doing? Good things happening? Nothing dire looming over you, I hope?

Oh, you know, the usual.
Getting a couple wisdom teeth extracted later this week, then getting my radiation treatment for the Grave's Disease on the 10th and 11th.
Not much else exciting going on for me, but hey, I am alive and kicking, so that's something!

hiyas!

Hi! i found you via lj spotlight and i had to add you! i've been sort of inactive in my local goth scene (philly) due to various life circumstances and growing older...in the midst of my scene-life crisis as it were and i needed a spark of life so to speak and here you are!

currently things are going okay, i have managed to get control over a bout of severe psoriasis (all with no health insurance - yay patient asst programs!) - as a result i am getting back into living my life ~ hanging with friends, writing zines, planning trips to other east coast cities, doing crafty mischief and just chilling out being thankful that my life is better than it was two years ago at this time.

also i am thankful for a brainless low-paying job that i fell into after being a temp cause in this climate i'm better off than without a job (and i am so sorry to hear that you are not working right now...i do hope that the book takes off so you dont HAVE to worry!)

i am very much looking forward to your column about goths of color and to the closet sale (its hard out here for a plus size goth chick!)

be well,
raequel aka systris

From: [identity profile] ghostworld00.livejournal.com

Very excited about the closet sale, if for anything, just a voyeuristic peak.

Good luck with the job search. I spent seven months on COBRA myself, not cheap. It might pay to look around for cheaper health care options.

Hi there! I, like several others here, apparently, am one of your new followers since you were in the LJ Spotlight. One of my friends told me about the Gothic Charm School some time ago but I never made the connection. :) Have a great day!

From: [identity profile] tommicat.livejournal.com

I have JUST received your Gothic Charm School book in the mail. You'll be receive a letter of praise in your email book very soon tonight.

From: [identity profile] arielmeadow.livejournal.com

Very curious about your thoughts on goths of color -- I've had lots of interesting discussions with Offbeat Bride readers about why their are so few OBBs of color, and the general theory seems to be that when you already feel marginalized by your ethnicity/color/culture/etc, the last thing you want to do is have a weird wedding. That basically participation in a sub-culture is a luxury of cultural privilege. Very curious to hear your thoughts on the topic.

Hi there ms cupcake_goth. I’m a new reader and I regard myself as ‘goth friendly’. Thanks for helping bring a little darkness into my day, in a good way. Your posts make me smile.

From: [identity profile] sinicallytwsted.livejournal.com

I recently because unemployed myself and yet I seem to be way more busy now then I was when I was employed. All this "free time" let me catch up on all the things I wanted to do but never had the time to do it when I was working. Weird how that works huh?

If you're wondering or I haven't mentioned it, I'm an artist/model that attend New England area comic book conventions and I also create cute goth/kawaii goodies. ;0)

Hi, I found your journal via the spotlight, and you seem really awesome =)

From: [identity profile] kilter.livejournal.com

I must emerge from lurkdom to tell you to be sure to apply for the COBRA subsidy! I work in HR, and I've been living and breathing this stuff for months. So many of our former employees didn't apply for the subsidy, and I don't know why!

But real life stuff is no fun to think about, so in happy news for a Monday, I just received a new necklace and ring from my fave new seller on etsy, LondonsGate (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6710409). Yay, fab gothy accessories!

From: [identity profile] lylassandra.livejournal.com

I have my first prenatal dr appointment tomorrow... And I'm realizing that none of my beautiful costumes will fit me as I'll be showing by Halloween, and oh! What shall I wear? (My costumer's guild does a Victorian walkabout in Old Town SD, which is charming.)

From: [identity profile] allbottledup.livejournal.com

I look forward to hearing from you in comments, posts, etc.
I'm going to be checking out the Gothic Charm School website this weekend as well. :)

From: [identity profile] lucretiasd.livejournal.com

So glad you were spotlighted

Because that means I found your LJ bloggie thing.

I'm new to your LJ blog, but have been following your Gothic Charm School for a while. Thank you so much for all your hard work there.

Something good is in the works for me this week and if all goes well, I may just have to celebrate by helping you clean out your closet. :-D
