It's summer-appropriate if I say it is, dammit.



(Actually, this outfit IS pretty summer weather -appropriate. The dress is a rayon sundress from Dharma Trading Co. (I added the lace trim to it), the stripey blazer is by the Infamous BlueJay (and is unlined mid-weight cotton^*), openweave tights, and the top hat is straw (that I colored black with art markers, then covered with black lace).

I'm still not PLEASED about that burning orb thing (I'm covered in SPF 30 powder sunblock AND I have a parasol and giant sunglasses at my desk), but I'm going to cope with it as best I can.




^*Speaking of which, I need to find a source for more mid-weight b&w striped cotton, where the inches are about 1" wide. I need, oh, six yards or so. Yes, I know about Spoonflower, but I'd rather not pay THAT much. Anyone have any leads?

But! It turns out there are lots of others! There's Sunforgettable (hey, with a convient trial size! (http://www.amazon.com/Colorescience-Sunforgettable-Trial-Shaker-Clear/dp/B000MIH1QQ/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1342140691&sr=8-17&keywords=powder+sunscreen)), and I'm thinking of getting the Bee Sunny (http://www.amazon.com/Bee-Mineral-Powder-Sunscreen-Titanium/dp/B004OA0872/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1342140789&sr=8-2&keywords=powder+sunscreen) stuff so I can just use the Jane Iredale powder on my face.

I REALLY like powdered sunblock. My skin has gotten sensitive enough that using liquid sunblocks either makes me sticky all day, or makes my skin freak out.

Denmark miiiiight be a bit far for ordering fabric, but when that is said:
I live in DK and have ordered cotton poplin with approx. 1" wide (22mm) b&w stripes from here: http://fjoelner.dk/visbillede.asp?vare=21383&la=dk
It's around $11 pr meter (sorry, metric system here...). Fabric isn't cheap in DK I'm afraid =/
But it seems to be more or less what you were looking for... Maybe?

Fabricdepot.com has had that stripe fabric in the past it's a michael miller. They also give 40% off if you buy a whole bolt. I know carlee has gotten a few different color combos from them in the past. You would probably just need to call and order it and have it shipped to you.

Simply adorable. The skirt flairs for breathability, the tights are to die for, and I do believe this is the first time I have ever seen you with peek-a-boo shoes. (Your tootsies are cute.)

Never in a million years have I ever heard of powdered sunblock. Interesting. I may have to check that out.
