I have lately had an urge to dress even MORE like a circus ringmaster than usual, and wear my red J. Peterman riding jacket. (clicky-link to an eBay auction for its twin.)

I love the jacket, and have, over the years, carefully (oh so carefully!) tailored it down to fit me as I shrank. That jacket, a black high-collar blouse with a jabot, a knee-length black ruffled skirt with petticoats, b&w stripey tights, button boots, and a top hat would be a marvelous outfit. (And one that I've worn variations of before.)

But.

We are now past Thanksgiving, which means not only do random strangers think my usual top hat means I'm a Christmas caroler, but if I wear anything red, they ABSOLUTELY believe I'm a Christmas caroler. However, I don't think I'm going to let that stop me from wearing the above-described outfit. I'll just make sure to wear black lipstick and skull jewelry, too. Oooh, and maybe swap the black skirt for a b&w striped one, instead.

I still think that if they ask you to sing anything, breaking out into something from the Nightmare before Christmas is not only completely appropriate but also 100% supported by all your online friends and then some! :D

Yes! This!!! I was totally going to comment that coming up with some creepy vaguely-Christmasy songs to sing would be the best response :)
