I think my reaction to the mom saying she wanted a “blonde-haired normal daughter that she could take out to lunch and laugh with.”, would have been just to say, "Well, you have a daughter who you can go out to lunch with and laugh with, is the blond part really the part that's so important?". I get what you were picking up on though too, and think it was a good aspect to touch upon.

You know, you could cut the marshmallows into bat shapes as well :)

Oh, that poor girl's mother! I know it can't be easy caring for someone with a disability and is surely under stress, but to take it out on her daughter... that's just inexcusable. You wrote an *excellent* reply to the girl.
