On the plus side, I am not overwhelmingly, fall face-first on the keyboard sleepy. On the minus side, PMS is making me fuzzy-brained and more than a trifle growly. I don't like it.

So! [livejournal.com profile] smonster, who knows me very well, sent me some clicky-links to shiny things I waaaaaaant. I am going to be totally obvious here and mention that hey! My birthday is next month ...

(NO, I'm not really fishing for presents. But the temptation to mention it, even jokingly, was too strong for my fuzzy-brained self to resist.)

Alice in Wonderland cameo necklace!

Pink cupcake cameo necklace!

I think they're both ADORABLE. I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage will mutter about the lack of elegance, and the complete sugar-coated twee-ness of them. DON'T CARE. Pink cupcakes! Alice in Wonderland!

In other news, I think I need to do some research about lightboxes. I'm pretty sure our household needs one, and possibly one of those fancy dawn-simulator alarm clocks.

You need to go look at this store:

Eric and I loved it and want to go back and visit !

I just wish the Light Boxes weren't so unattractive! I would love to have one that looked like an old victorian, like these, with daylight box powers...

sigh.

perhaps i should just sort how to make one myself!!!

You *can* make your own lightbox. I have--and I think this is the year I make mine look pretty.

First, get 2 generic "shop light" fixtures: e.g. http://electrical.hardwarestore.com/13-38-shop-lights/lights-of-america-shop-light-463497.aspx

Get 4 full-spectrum tubes, equalling around 10,000 lumens: e.g., http://www.naturallighting.com/web/shop.php?crn=708&rn=2321&action=show_detail

Install someplace you'll want to sit for at least 30 minutes per day. I put them on the wall across the breakfast table.

Done with the basics--beautification optional.

Ooh! That could work!! Thank you!

Luckily, my library, where I spend a lot of time during the day, faces south / west over the water, so I get heaps of light. Still, even with those ideal conditions, in the deepest days of winter, it gets a bit too dark.

You're welcome! I find that when I'm home during the day I just leave it on the whole time. Then, a couple hours after actual sunset, I "set" my indoor sun. :)

It's very nice for reading and sewing, though I can't use it for computer work as I can't handle the flicker...

Hmm. I think you may have found in those necklaces something I won't want to buy from you. The degree to which I'm your creature has its limits.

I know you've seen this but it's so cute it deserves its own link: pink and black striped tricorn hat (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_20&listing_id=16496900). My God, does anybody even wear arm warmers (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_20&listing_id=16079110) anymore?

Yaaay Noxenlux hats! (Why yes, I have one of them.)

I wear arm warmers. They're useful layered under jackets when it gets cold. But I'm not supposed to purchase any more, because mom knits them for me.

You will forever remain apart from the dictates of fashion and can wear arm warmers until the planet crashes into the sun and it will still be fine!

That sentence sucked. It's been a bad day.
