The really annoying thing is that I've been falling asleep fairly quickly these past few nights, but I'm still fuzzy-brained and sleepy. I'm hoping to get the tale of Epcot and "The magic of Nore-vey, yaaaah" written up tonight. Until then, today's Shallow Fashion Details are under the cut tag. (I'm hoping to get [livejournal.com profile] stroppy_baggage to take a photo when I get home tonight.)

  • Black cotton tights, worn under black velvet stockings with pink ribbons, and pink glittery peep-toe flats*.

  • Black and pink striped knee-length skirt (made by Dollflesh Designs), worn over knee-length pink & black petticoats.

  • Matching black and pink striped waist cincher/belt. The front is decorated with antique lace and buttons.

  • White high-collar ruffly faux-Victorian blouse.

  • Black wool bolero jacket, with large shiny black buttons.

  • Jewelry: The usual rings; pink faux pearl drop earrings; the usual antique pocket watch necklace; a choker of giant pink glass pearls worn around the collar of the blouse; and a pink enameled lapel pin of a skull, sword, and heart that says "A Pirate's Life For Me". (Yes, I got it at Disney World.)

  • Hair and makeup: hair pulled back into a low ponytail and secured with lace-festooned hair ties. Makeup is YSL Touch Eclat; translucent powder; smudgy eye shadow in MAC's "Plum Dressing", "Post Haste", "Black Tied", and "Vellum" (which equals shades of burgundy with black smudged liner); DiorShow mascara; NARS "Scarlet Empress" lipstick; and my glasses.

*I am one of those crazy people that thinks peep-toe shoes look darling with agressively opaque or patterned tights. I freely admit that many people think I am wrong like a wrong and crazy thing. Oh, and I have skull & cross-bone wellington boots to wear for the walk to the bus, because wearing peep-toe shoes to walk outside in January is not MY sort of crazy.

I raise my eyebrow at you.

I know, I know! I can't explain it. And this is actually the first time I've ever indulged my fondness for this sort of thing. I fully expect one of you to shoot me with a tranq dart for it.

pink glittery flats!

Today I had to tell my favorite antique store (the one in the same building as the caterers I work for, the ones who sold me my beloved vintage velvet evening purse with the tassel) that I really COULDN'T consider the gorgeous fragile black lace two-piece dress they had on the mannequin, OR the stunning satin-and-lace hobble-skirted thing, because if I had them, I'd want to WEAR them, and they looked as if they had three wearings left at most, and it would be a crime to wear them and destroy them, and I didn't have enough space in my apartment to buy them just as display pieces.

They were very kind, and said they'd even take the lace off the mannequin for me later so I could sketch and reproduce in something that wouldn't fall apart.

If they let me do that, I may have to buy the carved jet mourning brooch I've been eyeing for a while just to say thank you.

I have cupcake wellies! I <3 them :D

I wish you'd taken a photo of the outfit! It sounds fabulous! I would love to see it IRL! (err... IRL by proxo? via photograph?)

I got The Husband to take a photo, and I'll try and post it later this weekend. I just always forget to take/post photos.

You got this one, right? http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=22067

How cute! I didn't see that one. I was actively looking for all things pink and hearts (lol) and came home with this:
http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=26997 (which I *love* and wear all the time)

I got some other cute ones, but I think that's my favorite as far as pins go.

(although, if this one had been out yet: http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=30031 I would have totally snagged it. Pink with sparkles!)

I'm glad to hear you had such a great time! :D
