Stuff! Things! Let's see, I need to write a book review, write a blurb for a Kinda-Sekrit Project, and then do a lot of writing on another Kinda-Sekrit Project. Plus get to work on clearing out and organizing my storage heap room. Of course, what I would rather be spending my time on are thrift shopping and aa couple of sewing projects. So really, no change from the usual state of things there.

A Question Relating to One of the Kinda-Sekrit Projects: I need venue suggestions. It would need to hold about 200 people, be at least two rooms, and not be terrifyingly expensive. Oh, and would allow alcohol. Any suggestions?

  • Black glittery peep-toe flats.

  • Pale pale pink fishnets.

  • Knee-length black & pink striped skirt with black ruffled lace on the seams of the gores*, worn over a pink knee-length fluffy petticoat.

  • Black cotton and lace frilly faux-Victorian blouse, with long lace sleeves.

  • Black & pink striped waist cincher (more of a large-ish belt that laces up the back, really), made from the same fabric as the skirt. The center front panel is decorated with flat black lace trim and vintage pink buttons.*

  • Hair pulled back into a low ponytail and secured with black and pink lace-festooned hairties.

  • Jewelry: Pink & black skull cameo pinned at the center of the blouse collar, antique mini pocketwatch necklace, the usual giant rings, and pink chandelier earrings.

  • Makeup: YSL Touch Éclat as concealer; a dusting of translucent powder; dark purple/burgundy applied in a slightly smudge-y fashion as liner on the top and bottom and in the crease, topped with shimmery pink/white shadow, a thin line of black liner on the upper lids; mascara; and MAC "Verushka" lipstick.

*Both the skirt and the cincher/belt are from Dollflesh Clothing, and are absolutely adorable.

Whoo, don't wanna be at work today. Nothing dire (work has gotten better recently, for various reasons), it's just that there are other things I'd much rather be doing.

So, how are folks? What did you do during the Great LJ Outage of '07?

Listen to Ministry a lot. Wishing I had a less mentally involving job so I could focus on music, but then I remember that less mentally involving jobs also pay less and I need every dime I can get.

I was reading a book last night, China Melville.

For a venue, I supose there is always CHAC or the lower level. Seattle Center has spaces. It depends largely on what you want to do.

I shopped for lining & trimming fabric to match the main fabric, prewashed, ironed the cotton fabrics, and cut out fabric, lining, and trimming for a certain skullylicious dress for [livejournal.com profile] trystbat.

I also did laundry and took a homemade cherry-peach pie down to the local firehouse. They'd had to come out to our neighbourhood twice over the weekend because someone's house had a suspected gasleak, so I figured I'd do something nice like take them a pie. ;)

If it involves dancing, have you pondered one of the ballroom dance studios? Something like the Washington Dance Club in Seattle? I've been there with my fabulous SO (and competitive ballroom dancer... should the SEKRIT project say... need someone to teach how to do a couple of dances?). It's got two rooms. A ballroom in front and a second room in the back where, I suppose, alcohol could be served.

can you detail more of what the venues require?

200 each room or 200 total? seats or standing? office? equipment needed? kitchen? public? private? schwanky? alternative? mainstream? professional?

200 total, standing with some seating. Swanky would be nice, as would alternative, but decor can take care of a lot of that. Private, as there would be a door person. Equipment needed: hmmm, I think we'd be bringing in our own sound equipment.

We hosted my partner's birthday party at the Big Picture (http://www.thebigpicture.net/)'s Redmond location. It was one of the more reasonably-priced entertainment venues we found, has its own bar, and the level of service was simply spectacular. Ours was a catered event for 100ish people (and if you need a caterer, WOW do I have a recommendation).

They've got another location in Belltown, but the location on the east side has to its advantage free parking, elevator access, and a significantly more open layout.

What about the venue where Bryan and Jen had their wedding?

I, uh, did ad-hoc testing requiring my Last.fm account and listening to a lot of Borknagar.

My life is pain. :D

You may want to check OddFellows Hall - there's one in Ballard and one on CapHill, just of Broadway.

Some Masonic halls rent out, especially if you know the body master (herne51 for example)

Both places are cool with event liquor licenses.

I sat in the dark at my office for some of the blackout, since the power outage that caused it knocked out a lot of the financial district and SOMA. :) Yay, PG&E!

For the rest, well, I emailed back and forth with a cute old-school goth boy. :) I also snuggled with my kittenkatpantzandsocksboy and I may or may not have watched a movie, but I cannot remember. :)
