(In other words, I'm taking a break from editing.)

Thanks to an upswing in my insomnia AND the cold/Ick thing I was fighting last week, I have taken some sort of medication to fall asleep every night for a little over a week now. I'm not terribly pleased about this, but am telling myself that (a) I didn't, y'know, combine any medications (I either took Nyquil OR one of the prescription sleep meds. Not any of them together.), and (b) I probably won't have to keep taking something to help me fall asleep every night forever and ever. Probably. I hope.

However, even with the medicated sleep, I am *beyond* bleary-eyed and tired today. I have even succumbed to the usually-forbidden caffeinated tea this afternoon, instead of my usual herbal blend. But! Must be awake enough to comprehend what I'm editing! Raaaar!

The quick BPAL review: Candy Butcher does turn into a sweet, creamy floral on me, with the barest hint of chocolate. Which means it smells just about perfect when I layer it with another chocolate scent. (My current chocolate scent of choice: a hand-blended mix made up of the chocolate truffle oil from Dragonfly Blue, the chocolate oil from Escentials, and 7 drops of cocao absolute.) What this means is, yes, I'm going to be buying more bottles of Candy Butcher over the course of the year, and I'll switch between wearing it and Pink Moon.

By now, most of you know my rule: I dress to make myself happy and feel better.

  • Black leather pointy-toe ankle boots, laced with black ribbons.

  • Black opaque tights.

  • Black & white striped knee-length 10-gore skirt, worn over a black & white petticoat.

  • White lace-trimmed faux-Victorian blouse, worn with an ornate silver filigree skull & crossbones brooch at the collar.

  • Lightweight black wool hip-length jacket with flat silver buttons. The jacket is princess-seamed, and has a scooped neckline and no lapels.

  • Hair down (and no hat, which apparently confuses my co-workers).

  • Makeup is a light dusting of Aromaleigh in N1, a light dusting of shimmery white eye shadow, black liquid liner and mascara, and NARS "chandernagor" lip color.

Besides the fact that this is one of my favorite skirts, I'm very pleased with the jacket. It was a recent-ish thrift store find, and changing the buttons from gold knots (ew!) to flat silver disks made a world of difference. It nips in properly at the waist, and lays nicely over the top of the petticoat-enhanced skirt even though it doesn't have a peplum.

Oh, and I nearly caused someone to walk into a wall in the cafeteria when I went to get my iced tea. In my universe, that means the outfit is a success!

Okay, back to the oh-so-thrilling editing. Whee, I say. Wheee.

That sounds very pretty. I hope you feel better soon.

Getting people to walk into walls is a wonderful thing. :) I love it.

I don't remember if I've seen this skirt, but the outfit sounds very cute! I am ultra-bummed that Candy Butcher smells so crappy on me, but my misfortune is your gain!

Bliss Soaps on Broadway has an utterly fabulous chocolate soap. They advertise 3 lbs. of chocolate in each 10 lb. round of soap, and it smells like they're telling the truth. It works for my sensitive skin, too. The scent isn't very strong once you're out of the shower and all dried off, but layering it would probably work nicely. And the smell in the shower is scrumptious. I keep having to resist biting it.

The downside is that the lather is chocolate-syrup brown, which takes a bit of adjusting to.

My Candy Butcher arrived today, and it's vanilla and nail polish remover on my skin. I'd be more than happy to send it your way.

Oh, how disappointing for you! But I'd be more than happy to give it a good home.

If you don't want to continue to use medication you might try herbal teas such as the type they have at Tensing Momo in the Pike Place Market. They have just straight skull cap (an herb) that works great that you can brew as a tea but also have some mixed herb teas that are fantastic against my panic/anxiety attacks and I imagine would help you relax and sleep. It seems like I've taken everything known to man except a sledge hammer to the head to sleep and thwart my evil nemesis, Insomnia.

You're outfits are always so stunning even on your dress down days that I'm not surprised in the least that you turn heads, especially on the east side.

By the way, I don't know how much cash to bring to your sale. Is it ok if I play it safe and just bring my checkbook?

the outfit sounds adorable.

I have been trying to avoid medicating myself into sleep, but broke down last night. Just so you know it isn't just you. I had the cold thing a couple of weeks ago.

I'm surprised they didn't dead faint away! From the sounds of it, any young gothling would have to have you as their mentor. ^_^ Heck, I'm sure some older goth individuals would love you to be their mentor.

Sounds like a gorgeous outfit. And now with bonus points for making people walk into walls! :)
