- I had the consultation with the orthopedic doctor yesterday. I got the expected prescription for LOTS of physical therapy, but she also discussed my medications and suggested some changes. (She explained what the hell Topamax could help me with besides the migraines, so I'm actually willing to try it.) However, she also agreed that I should discuss all of these suggested meds with my psych, because they would involve tapering off some meds I've been on for a very long time. (My psych and I have previously discussed my tapering off Ambien, but in a "we'll get to it eventually" way. But if moving that plan up and getting me on some other meds would help multiple of my issues, I'm for it.)
- I have been in SO MANY meetings lately. It's budget planning time, and I need to be in many of them to remind folks that our software pillar only has one writer (me), and I can't cover everything. "Each feature project has at least one designer and engineer. And then me, across every feature project. This is not sustainable, no matter how much I want it to be." The message seems to be sinking in, so fingers crossed.
- I'm considering having the Stroppy One pick up a small pumpkin so I can carve it as part of my birthday celebrations.
- Halloween weekend and our wedding anniversary were lovely. We went out for fancy food at a socially-distanced restaurant, then watched some horror movies we've been wanting to catch. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (meh), Blood Red Skies (excellent), and Night Teeth (very fun!). We also started watching Midnight Mass, which was FANTASTIC. It owes a heavy debt to 'Salem's Lot, and it's not the first thing to intertwine Catholicism with blood drinkers, but it does it in a very different way. I really liked it.
